CUSA is not very good but Josh is right about
It being every conference team we play biggest game of the year. We get their best effort and it is a no win siuation for us because we are EXPECTED to win and win big most of the time. And don't bring up Cal's last 4 years because this team does not compare talent wise.

That's why the six remaining C-USA road games are worrisome. All of these teams play way above their heads when Memphis comes to town.

I agree with you, but Josh needs to get a new speech. There is no need for him to come to the post-game interview because they can just play the same tape for every game. I like Josh by the way, but getting tired of his tired message. The more he says, the more he gets beat up by the media.

I agree. Sometimes he just needs to say we played bad and will work on things at practice and let the CUSA thing go.

Okay. How about "most" do or is that "demonstrably false" as well? It sure as hell seems like it from our end and by listening to many of the opposing players, it sure seems as though they get up when Memphis comes to town. I guess to Tulsa, Memphis is no different than Rice or SMU.

Well, at the very least our board seems to attract the most "random posters from another team's forum" in the conference. That has to be worth something.

He gets beat up by some in the media because some are cynical slowleak hacks out to rip people apart.

I think, more than anything else, his post-pre game and coaches show concerns me. I am going to try to make it short.. But, look at after the VCU game.. His post show was a lot of Joe was having a bad game, Joe was turning the ball over, Joe this, Joe that... Nothing that he said addressed the issues that caused us to get handled that game.

After the Minnesota game it was something about energy... We need more positive energy. Joe had no positive energy so I didnt play him. Positive energy etc. etc. etc. Once again not addressing any of the issues that caused us to get handled.

Every pre-game/post-game is like that. Then we same the exact same mistakes and same issues almost every single game, and we still get the "they are a really good team, with a really good coach, and a really good program" "We are their superbowl/world series" etc. speech. Instead of some "We have to quit going for the risky defense. We need to sit back and dig in and get transition started from rebounding and forced mistakes resulting in turnovers."

Simply address some of the problems we no doubt are having. Before you can fix a problem you must identify it. It is perfectly ok to point out a flaw because otherwise it wont get fixed. Talk about the game, what you did right and what you did wrong. How you will continue to do more of the right and work on the wrong.

I understand where you are coming from. I listened to his postgame comments and I have to admit, they were not the most enlightening. Pastner is very defensive right now and it comes out in his comments at times. He was not used to media or fan negativity and he has gotten quite a dose this season.

Of course they get up for us. We're the gold standard. We need to do a better job of breaking their will and reminding them why we are the gold standard.

He has said it many times. Of course followed by C-USA...well coached... (fill in the blanks here).

you are right about how the teams play us, but for me, im not worried at all. when the other team plays hard and shows emotion it does nothing but pump our Tigers up. also, they still have to play really well for the FULL 40 minutes to beat us, also, we have to fall on our face or have several guys not making any shots and or our guys getting scared. i dont see any of those things happening. i said we would lose one to two more games nine games ago. heck if we only lose one more game the rest of the way that is a great job.

According to the random Tulsa fan, my statement was "demonstrably false." What he is suggesting is that Tulsa considers Memphis just another conference opponent when the Tigers come to town.

Sorry JMS. You know I respect you and I haven't read the whole thread (worked all day). I've been darting in and out of all the threads trying to get a read on what the temperature of the board is after todays one point win. Did we really only win by one point today?

Everyone knows you can be beat in any given game, without focus and energy. But Josh crys wolf with every opponent so strongly that it has now become a joke. He doesn't need to be the CUSA cheerleader...worry about your team.
