I will be bringing the wife and kids to watch LA Tech play Rice and UTSA. We went down to San Marcos to watch Tech beat TX State last November and spent sometime down in San Antonio while there. Love the place. Looking forward to both trips. We will be heading to Dallas also, but that is for our neutral site/home game with Army. All other teams that I would have traveled to are coming to Ruston next year (Tulane, USM, UNT, Tulsa). Will try and make an east division swing maybe in 2014 or 2015.

I live in the DFW area, so me and my clan will certainly make the Army "home" game for LA Tech in Dallas' Cotton Bowl.

We will also travel to Rice and UTSA this fall. Probably won't make it to UTEP and FIU. Too far out of the footprint.

As a long time season ticket holder, I'm looking forward to all of LA Tech's home games against CUSA teams, including USM, UNT, Tulsa and Tulane.

It's not like people are being murdered in their hotel rooms in Miami. Miami wouldn't be such a major tourist spot if t were a dangerous place to visit. Like any major city, there are some not so safe areas, but those aren't places tourists (or anyone who doesn't live there) are ever likely to go. Stay on the beach or downtown and you'll be fine.

Besides, Miami isn't even on the list of 10 most dangerous places in America. The only CUSA city on the list was Birmingham at #7.

Question for MTSU fans, where would you recommend to stay if I made the trip this year for the football game? Was thinking downtown Nashville, but looking suggestions.

What hotels in downtown would Marshall fans recommend? If I make that game, I want to be able to walk to the stadium and around the campus. One year I went, I think we were homecoming and all the hotels were booked.

UAB and USM for sure. I've been to FAU twice so I probably won't make that one this year. UNT is unlikely as well.

MT because I believe it will be for Cusa East Championship. Also it is a one shot trip by air. I hope Tenn. (Chris Johnson) will be playing home that Sunday, too.

Pullman Plaza hotel is downtown and almost exactly a one mile walk to the stadium. It takes you through 6 blocks of 4th ave(where all the bars and college eateries are) and 4 blocks right through the middle of campus)

Holiday Inn is a few more blocks away from Pullman Plaza but the walk will take you through Pullman Square.(Movies, restaurants, shopping, etc)

I don't think there are any hotels that are within a reasonable walking distance to the stadium.

Nashville is a blast, but you'll be looking at a decent drive to and from. There are plenty of nice hotels in Murfreesboro, unfortunately none of them are around campus, I mean they're only a five to ten minute drive(if you plan on getting there early and tailgating that is, if you wait till closer to gametime it could be like twenty five minutes with traffic).

If you stay in Murfreesboro, there is a beautiful embassy suites that's less than five years old, if you don't want to spend quite that much you're going to want one of the two on N. Thompson Lane(Quality Inn, Comfort Inn) as they are the two other nicest newest hotels in town. Of the older hotels the Double Tree is still fairly nice, I suppose Fairfield is actually closest to campus(unless you want to stay somewhere really ratty) and from fairfield you have several ways to get to campus. I'd definitely avoid anything off the Church st exit, mostly old and not so nice over there and less bar and restaurant options right around the hotels.

I always like to encourage traveling fans to stay in Murfreesboro rather than Nashville, but if you haven't been to Nashville before, with this being your only definite trip in the near future, I wouldn't blame you for staying in Nashville.

Have they announced the site of the 2014 basketball tournament? I thought I heard someone say it was supposed to be in Memphis so it would likely be moving.

it's awesome to hear the road trip talk in CUSA...that shiat didn't happen in the sun belt...no visiting fans...the only away game i ever made was to monroe for conference. this conference has great potential for fan rivalries and great to see opposing teams giving great information for stays in their town...

CUSA is one of the best things to happen for NORTH TEXAS!!!

Never making it to Denton is a Sun Belt regret of mine. I made it to every Sun Belt school except FIU and UNT. Would like to make the trip this year, but not sure I can make it happen time and $$$ wise. Hopefully the next time you're on our away slate I'll be in a better place financially.

UNT has a great schedule this year. Mean green fan base should be very energized. As a Roadrunner fan I'm excited to be playing UNT. Easy road trips. Hopefully we can develope a healthy rivalary. 04-cheers

As a Miner fan in DFW, I'm definitely going to Miner games at UNT. Talking my wife into a trip for UTSA games will be easier than it was for Houston trips. I made the trip to Ruston a couple of times back in the WAC days and had a great time, but that may be too far for me these days...
