RE: Guess who is receiving votes in the latest Coaches' Poll?
I just hate the fact, we're finally getting some attention and then we have the one-week layoff period between games. (Didn't the same thing happen last year? We got a little bit of notice, and then the off-time so we didn't have any momentum after the whispers?)
Quote:at #8 Arizona...we led 35-27 at half...also, we once had an 11-point lead in the game....oh yeah, and our LEADING scorer Dwayne Davis did not even play be/c of the flu. 04-jawdrop
This one is the game that still pissed me off.. the officials basically GAVE this game to Arizona after about the 8 minute to go in the 2nd half... (I remember some Arizona fans saying the same thing on various message boards. We got the 11 point lead and then the refs went looking the other way for everything that Arizona did).

Others receiving votes: Georgetown 121, UNLV 56, Wisconsin 45, UCLA 34, Arizona State 14, Notre Dame 12, Pittsburgh 10, Louisiana Tech 8, Villanova 6, Baylor 5, Iowa State 4, Memphis 4, Virginia Commonwealth 4, La Salle 3, Saint Mary's 2, Colorado State 1

In all seriousness, it seems righteously unfair that MTSU is not receiving any votes in the AP yet.
No offense, Papa, but you should see the HELL that's being discussed about the AP poll. (You can see all the voters ballots at Pollspeak.com).
There are some guys RIPPING into some of the voters, because they don't have Georgetown ranked, and Miami, FL is still ranked in the 20's on some ballots. (that's the one that's getting some major "yelling" between sportswriters)

That was an interesting read. Some of those guys are making ludicrous votes.
Again I ask......WHERE IS MTSU?

If your school had as good a women's basketball team, you'd probably care, too.
BTW, 16 points/No. 30 in this week's coaches' poll.

It's not a bad thing to say you have (Uconn and Tennesse made the WBK game marketable), but in terms of excitement? Outside of those two schools, it's an "ehhh.". Even Baylor WBK was a "Ho-hum" story.

Our four losses with RPI rankings:
@ #5 Florida (technically neutral court in Tampa)
@ #14 Belmont (we couldn't hit anything that night, but they're legit)
@ #68 Akron in OT (hasn't lost at home and has won 11 in a row)
@ #196 Arkansas State in OT (damnit)
Signature win is obviously Ole Miss. We're going to have to win out to get the committee and voters to forget about that Arkansas State loss.

I do find it exciting, and I watch every game online. The team plays great defense (something we've long valued in El Paso) and finds a way to win nearly every time out, no matter what obstacles it faces.
But at the same time, I understand people who don't care. Some are fanatical about soccer, while I couldn't care less. To each his own.

The women play a game that I can relate to much better than the men's game. I used to say that about women's tennis, but they've advanced enough that I struggle with relating to what they are doing now.

What exactly had Morehead State Men's Basketball done before Donnie Tyndall?
Southern Miss got themselves a heck of a basketball coach to replace a pretty darn good coach beforehand.

We should have never lost to Arkie, but they did shoot 28 FT's to our SIX.
SBC Tourney is going to be very difficult with us leaving for CUSA. Everyone except our fans (and maybe North Texas) will be against us, and hopefully not the SBC refs.
