Actually, according to that article, he could be.
Not that that's going to happen

I doubt that the "untouchables" and 'cream of the crop' listed would want to come to USC let along the next batch

Lipscomb will probably be looking after this season as well but I don't think he's a candidate for that one either.
Their arena was unusually empty last night in their win over Kennesaw St. They only drew 895.

Kennesaw St. is a sleeping giant.

They haven't drawn well since they moved from the NAIA to DI and replaced their gym with the larger arena.
Tough job. Hard to get DI athletes to agree to commit to going to chapel nearly everyday.

Good lord man, they rated Pastner a 4-6 out of 10....their lowest rated coach.
Some of the coaches they rate higher than Pastner:
Mark Gottfried, Dave Rice, Scott Drew, Justin Hutson (asst coach at UNLV!!!!), Dan Monson, Dave Rose (BYU), Fran Dunphy, Lorenzo Romar, Steve Lavin, Tommy Amaker
Not to mention the obvious ones like: Stevens, Smart, Few, Buzz Williams, Greg Marshall, Greg McDermott, Jamie Dixon, Jay Wright
I hate to say it but, I think "this board's" opinion of how highly Pastner is regarded by basketball people around the nation is totally incorrect. IMO, he is viewed as a great recruiter that greatly underachieves on the court with said talent. Great recruiter/bad coach. Maybe he can prove them wrong in the tourney this year. I sure hope so.

I don't think USC can lure away a coach from a high major program. they are going to have to do what UT did and hire an 'up and comer'. however we see how that is working for UT.

USC's list is really no different than anyone's list would be. In fact, if Pastner did leave, I could copy/paste that list and call it ours. Fact of the matter is, a lot of those guys aren't leaving for USC...or Memphis. Some, but probably not any of the "big names".

They should add Haith, Pearl, and even Floyd on their list. ....pretty much goes along with their all sports standards of 'cheat to win' and get caught.. except for USC doesn't win anymore.

It only takes 1 year to become hot (which is crazy)...
If Pastner goes to the Elite 8/Final Four he will be hotter that fire and pretty much atop everyones list.

Amaker, a failure at Seton Hall and Michigan, is a 6 and Pastner a 4 - 6? That I don't get.

But right now it's fair to say that Pastner is nationally perceived as a recruiter who struggles as a bench coach. Once he puts both together you're absolutely right.
