RE: Football recruits
2012 recruit Jainard Crawley-Lambert has finally come on board. He is a running back and will be part of the 2013 class.

Seems to be a smaller quick back. I wonder if we'll try to get some larger players with the new offense going forward.

Re: Football recruits
Yeah he is small, but I guess he is built. As long as he can gain yards that is all that matters.

JMU signs TA lineman 6'4" 285 ib. Nic Moyers today. Newsome was recruiting him to go to VT before Newsome became coach at JMU.

Like the schools on this list, even if the interest was only mild in some cases.

And for those who would like to watch actual games of recruits, his playoff game from last year (64-43 loss) is on youtube.

Sun belt territory. Interesting. We don't get a ton of guys from Georgia. I'm sure lezotte had some pull.

McDonald has good wheels...a true 4.48 at QB would be fun to watch. Also throws a nice ball.

Someone help me out on this. What do you think JMU has in mind for this young man? I watched the highlights and he is fast, shifty, and seems to have a strong arm. Kind of reminds me of the ODU qb. seems short and built for qb at first glance, and I don't remember OCain having qb's like that in his past offenses.

I believe that Tyrod Taylor was smaller (6') and very shifty. O'Cain was his QB coach (although he didn't take over play calling duties until Logan Thomas was the starter).

It will be interesting to see what O'Cain has in mind. In his last gig as offensive coordinator (Clemson), he was an I Formation guy. Stinespring fooled with spread and pistol concepts at VT, so it will be interesting to see if O'Cain brings any of that here.

Incidentally, Stinespring and O'Cain seem to have many of the same issues - they try to meld too many offensive concepts without establishing a true offensive identity. O'Cain's best work came when he was a head coach at NC State and he had Tory Holt to bail him out.

Clayton recruited him. Remember, Georgia is strong MM and Clayton territory.

RE: Football recruits
“When I visited there, I loved the coaches,” the 17-year-old McDonald said Tuesday night. “I loved the coaches … and it’s a football school, and I like that. The atmosphere up there is great. You can’t ask for a better atmosphere.”. And he turned down Georgia Southern for JMU. This is exactly why we need to continue to support this team even if you disagree with or are frustrated by the admin. This says it all.

RE: Football recruits
I know it's early and this kid is young and looking through purple filters, but it is good to hear one reason a recruit is choosing this school is because he loves the coaches. After the fallout between coach and some players earlier this year I hope we hear more of this. I love that he recognizes we are a football school, and have great atmosphere, if our atmosphere means more than playing in the sun belt to one individual, I'm sure there are more out there. In fact the article states that he has teammates we are interested in, and he intends to help with recruiting them.

Our coaches have used that tactic for years...I can remember recruits from the 2005-2008 era saying that.

True, but we were competing with we are definitely FBS in 2014 and need you to lead GSU in the Sun Belt. It does make you wonder though how much of a limb our coaches are willing to go out on with their recruiting promises!

I would think promising a move could hurt as well. It could mean no playoff, and no bowls, ie transitional seasons that don't mean much. Kind of like having lame duck seasons.

Throw in an OOC game the first transition year @ Hawaii to replace playoffs / bowl

Would we be stopping off for a game at CCSU or St Francis on the way to Hawaii? Because that would be swell.

J/K obviously.
