Watch the video. Eerily similar looking teams with the exception of we have an inside presence on today's team.

RE: We should have won by 50. Right?
Tulsa had some decent squads back then, barely winning a tough road game is certainly no shame.

Just trying to prove that the great teams of old aren't so distant from our team today.

Why are you trying to prove bad things about the Tigers?

Well, in all fairness, Memphis did play Tulsa two other times that year and won 63-37 and 64-39.

Never felt more vindicated after a win.

The announcers were rooting against us, everytime the Tulsa crowd would get into they'd do that stupid pan-back to get the crowd in the shot...

Fairly sure I broke it down Degeneration X style when AA made that layup.

While this team is quite good, they have done little to be in the conversation with the '06-'09 run.

No shame in that, not many teams of any kind have 03-wink

Not sure if the OP is serious. That Memphis team was a lot better than the team we have now. The inside presence on that team was clearly than the inside presence we have now. I would take Dozier and Taggart over Black and Goodwin any day of the week.

Not to mention Tyreke and Antonio.

Yep, and people forget how good Taggart and Dozier were, and I think people tend to overrate our bigs this year.

Dozier
ppg 13
reb 8

Taggart
ppg 10
reb 8

Goodwin
ppg 9
reb 5

Black (last year's stats)
ppg 11
reb 5

I will say that Taggart and Dozier were playing 6 - 8 more minutes per game, but it's mainly Black's and Goodwin's faults for getting in so much foul trouble.

Taggart only played 25 mpg--about the same as Shaq (22.5) this year.

I don't remember Dozier and Taggart being that good. Here are some stats I pulled off gotigersgo. Not sure where the one above were found.

Dozier
Freshman
Saw action in all 37 games ... Made three starts ... Averaged 5.6 points and 5.5 rebounds ... Shot 40.4 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the foul line ... Had 22 assists, 42 blocked shots and 21 steals
Sophmore
Played in all 37 games and started 36 ... Lone missed started came on Tiger Senior Day (Jeremy Hunt got the start in his place) ... Averaged 9.6 points and 6.2 rebounds ... Shot 47.1 percent from the field and 63.4 percent from the foul line
Junior
Played in 37 games, starting 36 ... Missed two late November games due to a foot injury ... Did not play in a mid-February game as a result of being suspended for violation of team policy ... Team's third-leading scorer (9.2 ppg) and second-leading rebounder (6.8 rpg)

Taggart
2007-08 Season (Sophomore)
Played in 39 games, missing only the Tigers' contest at Tulane in late February ... Made nine starts ... Averaged 5.9 points and 4.2 rebounds ... Third on team with 37 blocked shots ... Shot 50 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from the arc and 64.6 percent from the foul line ... Added 15 assists and 19 steals

The OP was comparing that particular team of 08-09, not when they were freshman and sophomores.

So, by Stammers standards, both Taggart and Dozier sucked because they averaged 5 ppg in one season. There is no way they could have put up better numbers when given more PT.

Last year Colin Kaepernick threw for all of 35 yards. Dude must be a sucky player and I would feel horrible for the 49ers if Smith got hurt and they had to put that scrub in.

Tigers got a little lucky with that out of bounds call going against Tulsa.
