Really hard to say that, especially with Iverson never playing a single minute of college basketball.
They were daring him to shoot and his shot was off...If he had the mindset and know how to get to the rack and collect fouls he could have thrived...But their defense was perfect for his type of game. He has to become more versatile offensively.

Our lineup of DJ, Joe, Geron, Chris, and Tarik in the second half was insane. They were playing some lockdown D. It's been a while since I've seen that intensity from our team.
Adonis has to catch up. He has basically lost his spot because of DJ working much harder than he has. I'm sure it has to be frustrating for him, though. He's been told over and over again how good he is and how he should be the leader of this team. But, it's just not happening.
This is starting to remind me some of Joe last year. It got to the point where Joe was gettting beaten out by Chris and Antonio at his position. Hopefully, Adonis can come back and be a leader like Joe has.
It is a very hard thing for these kids to have enjoyed superstar staus in HS and then come in and play where most folks on the floor are as good as you are. A work ethic and desire to improve is essential beyond HS and it takes a while for some to develop it. And of course some ... never do.
Seriously, can we play one freaking game without a thread questioning "what's wrong with ______" ???!???
We have a solid 8 man rotation. Every game, 1 of the 8 is going to finish with the least amount of points / minutes etc... Give it a freaking rest. One of AT's buckets last night was a runner in the lane during our comeback. It was a big hoop.

Good grief.

I don't know who else here might be mocking. But I am not. I sincerely hope he gets his act together, and sincerely think he HAS to be better than this. And I sincerely think he probably is second-guessing his decision. Who wouldn't be, given what's gone down? That said, I am happy he is a Tiger, and think he has better days ahead, as far as basketball goes.
But I do think 15 min, 4 pts., is worth commenting about, considering he was supposed to be a lottery pick and all.

This is her standard copy & paste response to anything Adonis related. Get used to it.

When we get to the tournament, we're gonna need this guy - say what ya want, he's still one of the biggest players on the team. With Shaq and Tarik, foul trouble is ALWAYS gonna be an issue. Adonis' ability to play some 4 will come in handy, mark my words...

I think criticism of a player's game is fair game. I think AT would be the first to tell you his production statistically has been a major disappointment in his own eyes, and he has to make improvements at the next level. I also think he does look a bit heavy (not fat, just more muscular than supple).
But, the inverse is something else to be aware of. We haven't heard a peep from him about his reduced stature in the offense or his place on the team. He still offers a strong nightly contribution and sometimes can produce some big buckets. Plus he is a natural pro wing who would be best served possibly playing some 4 as a collegiate player and he is obviously trying to realign his game on the fly to better transition to his pro position.
So some bad (decreased production, some off nights, some disappointment)
And some good (still plays hard, no complaints and does his job as a teammate, shows courage trying to adjust now to his eventual pro position, and is by all accounts a good kid).
I'm both disappointed and very proud of the young man. As per usual, lots of gray area and we should embrace the nuance of this (and all) situations.

I don't think AT lacks for work ethic, I think he's heavy, but he is muscle heavy by the looks of it and that takes some time in the weight room and dedication. (Note: not saying you are saying he lacks work ethic either). There is a natural progression to things and he is probably develop a lot in the next two years. I think the general truth that is emerging is that all underclassmen need some adjustment periods unless they are that Rose/Evans caliber of player. There is certainly no shame in that. Joe Jackson is just now becoming the player we all wanted him to become and you can see the effort he puts in.
Maybe it's not effort, simply a timely development arc?

This team has a lot of guys who can contribute offensively and with a flexible team that has lots of good options, someone's shots will always reduce based on match ups. He played 15 min (a low number for him, but it does happen) and didn't take bad shots (2/3). Even if it's only 4 points, if you are getting more points than shots, you are relatively efficient and an asset generally.
Sometimes matchups dictate fewer minutes.
Damon Stoudemire probably understands a rotation team that has options better than most. Remember those Blazer's teams that challenged the Lakers? Those teams went 10 deep. Sabonis/Grant/Sheed/D.Davis upfront with wings of Schrempf/Pippen/Wells/etc and point was run by our own DS and Greg Anthony.
Often a guy like Anthony would put up 15 minutes and not have a great stat line, someone had to reduce their role, but damn having a guy like G. Anthony playing 15 minutes in the NBA? Damn that is DEEP.
We play these Tigers right, we have enough 'weapons' to do damage.

'You're too negative', 'you're too positive'. round and round, etc, etc.
I don't care if you're either personally, just be respectful of each other and the team in your praise or criticism, refrain from insulting those around you, and most of all say something worth reading.
This message board is for all of us. Instead of worrying about positive/negative, simply work on being respectful and interesting. We are all busy people and the time invested in reading and spending time here has value. If you're going to post, bring your A game. Otherwise, what is the point?
