"Did you hear FIU is now one of the top 50 universities for undergrad studies?"
"Haha yeah, those losers never even leave their dorm rooms, that's why their student section is always empty."
"Uhm bro, they sold out every game and are finally starting the upperdeck phase to their stadium."
"True, but I saw an open seat in the student section in the game vs. UAB, so their stadium is empty to me. And besides, last time I was at the Cage I ate a churro and it gave me the runs like the world was ending. That stadium sucks!"
I can see this conversation happening. And FWIW, I did get a nasty case of the craps from a churro at FIU stadium 2 years ago. LMAO
First signs of senility over at the 'del Boca Vista' campus being seen as the students begin to talking to themselves.
I can see where you would come to that conclusion, a student talking to himself, because you're used to seeing empty student sections. But don't fret, that's not the case at pretty much every other school in the nation North of 595, so I would have a plethora of students to talk FAU sports about.

Considering it's about FAU leaving THE SUN BELT a year early... it belongs on both SBC and CUSA boards, and the Conference Realignment board.

FAU is still SBC until the end of baseball season. Though, I could see this thread visiting the smack board if it continues at its current pace.

I think this should be moved, it is making other SBC fans upset and I believe that is the standard for moving things to the great abyss.

We're just not that into you. There is no rivalry. Maybe Lynn is interested, give them a call!

Lol y'all say that it isn't a rivalry, and then complain how none of your students care about FIU. My favorite excuse y'all throw around is that the South Florida culture loves a winner, which is valid, but to a point. There are no excuses for the majority of your students wearing UM shirts over FIU shirts, for an average of 40 students at an FIU basketball game. Win or lose, the students should always support their school.
We combated this problem by our SGA, Alumni Association, and Greek Life being pro-active in raising school spirit, and joining the campus under one idea: That nobody at FIU cares about FIU for a reason, because they suck. I'm not saying that's fact, but that idea is shared by many FAU students, which leads to an increase in school spirit and attendance.
Y'all can do what you want, but I find it shocking that there's not even a single effort on your end to make this work, when it worked for us.

Yes, please regale all of us with tales of your attendance greatness. Actually, no, I think I'd rather speak to fans from schools who make enough on stadium attendance to cover their own debt service. Pay your mortgage son!

I think I'll settle with continuing our dominance in football, basketball, and baseball. But thanks for your concern. By the way, we'll get the money for our stadium (which is plenty times better than yours) with our series against UM, including a game in Boca. Thanks for the concern though.

RE: FAU
LOL. "Dominance" in football, basketball, and baseball. Even though FAU has lost their last 2 games against FIU in football, I can understand a little the use of "dominance" overall, since it's 8-3, since FAU has won 73% of the games so far. I understand you are very young and new to this thing, but for basketball ( I suspect you mean men's basketball, because women's is really a dominance), and baseball, the series are far from dominance by either side. We are basically tied in both sports. In basketball FIU leads 16-14 all time. Oops. In baseball, it's very close either way.
