What a great day for B'ham sports radio!!!
Finebaum will NOT be on sports radio this afternoon in Birmingham!

Who knows how long this will last, but at least today will be tolerable.

I found his show and callers entertaining to say the least.

The Jox Roundtable? Hahaha.

Frankly, I can't think of anything worthwhile to put in that slot.

I wouldn't miss a thing if they shut down both stations.

I read he is going to 97.3, and that he has to sit out 3 months due to a non-compete clause in his contract. There is also some stuff to work through on how to handle what he gets for the satellite broadcast.

Don't know how true any of this is, but it's more than that article seemed to offer.

97.3 started out as a good concept then decided they wanted to become WJOX. Getting that piece of monkey dung will make their transformation complete. To hell with both stations. Birmingham still has no worthwhile sports talk.

107.3 is nice, it's just the straight ESPN national feed. That's what I listen to.

I broke the antenna off my car to make sure I would not listen to local sports radio by accident. Sirius all the way

PF to the Zone is not a done deal, according to the sales staff at the station. He is also in negotiations with one of the News talk radio stations in B'ham and also talking to Sirius about a possible exclusive satellite deal.

Richard Dixon is on WAPI 100.5 from 2 to 6, so I would be highly disappointed if they were going after PF.

WERC on the other hand is available in that timeframe.

An exclusive satellite deal may be the best for him dollar wise, however he wouldn't get the normal retarded callers due to most not having Sirius.

It's definitely not WAPI since they are a sister station to WJOX.

Just found out he is also negotiating with ESPN for a national show.

Quote:WJOX operations manager Ryan Haney resigned from the Cumulus-owned station Monday as well, according to sources close to the situation.

Sources say the Paul Finebaum Radio Network is considering several opportunities at this time, which include remaining with Sirius satellite radio, moving to ESPN, joining WJOX competitor 97.3 The Zone, or a combination of the listed options. Finebaum has not made a decision on which option he will pursue at this time.

The Roundtable is the best sports show in the state. I'm stoked that they're back in the D & B timeslot.

See Howard Stern for an example. He went Satellite, made a butt load of money, but hasn't been relevant since he left the airwaves,

A rare joyous day in Birmingham radio history...Someone told me at work that he was gone, but also said that he may be entertaining offers from CBS and ESPN. I don't know what's going to be worse, hearing his voice or seeing his face. I will take the "Vitale Approach", and change the channel to accommodate none of the above!

IF Paul moves to 97.3 fm in the same time slot, what becomes of that time slot on JOX? Has anyone heard any rumors about that?

RE: What a great day for B'ham sports radio!!!
From what I have put together, it looks like he is at least 3 months away from going to 97.3 if he decides to go there. Of course, nothing worthwhile is in that time slot currently, so he would not have any problems taking over.

On Jox currently, the round table is filling the space.

No idea who they would pick as the full time solution.

There really isn't anyone on either station that is appealing.

The only ones worth a crap have long since hung up the mike.
