They're huge hypocrites, that's the problem. DeCaprio is going to save the environment by "flying all over the world" in his private jet, leaving a carbon footprint for each flight that exceeds your daily commute times a thousand.

Take Matt Damon. His mother is a professor and a huge anti gun advocate. Matt is a big supporter of her cause. His signature franchise is the Bourne Identity. It averages something like 9 shootings/killings per movie.

I can give you ten more stories of "Do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy in the entertainment industry.

Got to agree with with Chip in here to an extent.

Stars do get full of themselves.

Still, they have the platform and stage and people do listen. So what they say does matter. And what they CHOOSE to say is what gets out there. If he chooses to say he wants to save the planet, that is better in my mind than saying screw the planet. He's going to consume regardless, so that part of it is a wash.

If he were a yogi, he might disappear in a mountain cave and be silent. But he is a movie star, he is going to rock on, right?
