Maybe they know something official or almost official that we don't know. Is MTSU and FAU in on this call?

I agree. Georgia State has down sides but their stadium isn't really one of them. I wouldn't cry about playing in a new billion dollar NFL stadium.

Dunno if they are. Obviously ODU is or their beat writer wouldn't know about it.

Kind of hard to get space for one in downtown Atlanta. The Falcons are getting a new stadium which will be great. No need for an on campus one.

Is the new stadium a done deal yet? This is news to me, I thought they're still working on the deal. And will it have the same empty feeling when GSU plays because the stadium will be too big? USF has the same problem and it KILLS the atmosphere.
Seattle found a solution with the MLS's Seattle Sounders, building the stadium with large and small events in mind. Will Atlanta do the same, or will they continue their D3 type atmosphere (no disrespect, F_U has the same problem. FAU's much better than FIU's though, but I digress).

As of RIGHT NOW...

If all sides are to be taken seriously, there will be a new stadium.

-If Atlanta says they'll throw tax $$ at it, it'll be a retractable dome downtown, and the GA Dome comes down.

-If Atlanta says "no" to public funds/bonds, then the dome stays, and the Falcons owner has said he'll build an open air stadium towards the Northern suburbs.

I can only assume that GA State will be playing in the GA Dome, or new dome. I've read discussion about making it convertible to better suit an MLS team (and GA State). Look at Vancouver's BC Place for an oft discussed and easily accomplished example.

You missed UTEP, and SMU is too high relative to the others. Houston caught lightning in a bottle with your undefeated run in 2011 that looked like you would make a BCS bowl game. Do not mistake that for #3 in Texas when the Coogs are winning.

Any program from the non-AQ conferences would have a similar media attention in Texas if they were running the table and getting mention of the spot reserved for the best of the rest.

Everybody forgets about UTEP, I honestly forget that they're even in Texas most of the time. The city has proven that they'll support a winner. (i.e Texans, 2005 Astros, Rockets, etc.)

Whenever the Coogs are ranked or have a 2011-lik run, the city as a whole gets behind them because UH is Houston's college team.

Everybody? Very little do, and those are the idiots who don't know much about college athletics, especially in Texas. Shows how much your opinion is truly worth.

RE: CUSA about to expand again?!?!......
For some reason fans from schools in the EASTERN part of the country are spewing trash about UTEP wanting Enemas U. as a traveling partner or that they would be good for cusa. THIS IS A CORRECTION IN CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE IT SEEMS Y'ALL ARE TOO DENSE TO SEE REALITY. UTEP has never and will never want anything to do remotely with enemas u. We see them as inferiors (which they are). They average around 12k (about what some new schools from the east average so they think it's good). They do not bring tv's at all as they do not share in the UTEP tv area as a favorite team. They are a non-entity and should remain as such. Again in capital letters so that you won't miss the point again: IF Y'ALL WANT ENEMAS U. IN CUSA AT LEAST WAIT UNTIL WE (UTEP) IS OUT NEXT YEAR OR EVER. Now repeat after me: UTEP. Does. Not. Want. Anything. To. Do. With. Enemas U. I can't be more clearer than this, can I? I'm sure my fellow (majority) of UTEP fans feel as I do. I know Stull and Natalicio do too.

This news makes me feel better. With official word coming that the laggies are in talks with cusa, it can only mean that talks between UTEP and the MWC are heating up.

Yes, you could use the actual name and leave the name-calling to the five-year-olds.

Only way Georgia State doesn't share a stadium with the Falcons is if Atlanta gets a team in MLS and a downtown or very near downtown stadium is built in partnership with Georgia State. Otherwise the land cost makes it impossible.

Since Atlanta isn't widely regarded to be a high priority for MLS, they'll be sharing space with the Falcons.

RE: CUSA about to expand again?!?!......
A point on TV.

When MWC moved to CSTV, the WAC ended up getting a nice bump in rights fees. ESPN had nothing in the region and Boise and Fresno could pull a decent audience out west.

Right now ESPN's Tuesday/Wednesday content and Thursday night ESPNU content is Sun Belt and MAC.

If Sun Belt is out of business ESPN is either looking to bump what it pays the MAC or suddenly rediscovers interest in CUSA.

http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/TU...TLIN401120

The Tulsa World article makes no mention of Southern Miss leaving C-USA.

frankly I think he is just adding what he hopes for, because I don't see why USM would want to pay the fees to join a conference that really doesn't add enough to justify it. Yeah some old rivals, but we are also picking up one long time rival, with a growing rivalry with UAB, Marshall and potential rivalries with some of the new teams. I just don't see enough guarantees to make it a move worth taking, but I have noticed with some of these fans whose teams are moving, a doggedly determination to not realize their new conference isn't as impressive to the rest of us as they think.

Pretty well sizes up why there are a still a few nBE members posters hanging back here at CUSAbbs as if we are supposed to genuflect?

Well funny thing is that no one in the Southwest still has no idea if your school is in North or South Carolina and furthermore.........don't give a crap which state it's in. ECU is a 2'nd rate school trying to be something it will never be.

And ask our rich and famous what they think of your Southern Goober Boy remarks plus.....can ECU match this list in the link below? The answer is, uh "NO" you can't come even close. So go back to being a good widdle' Carolina ACC wannabe' school.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Uni...xas_alumni

And one more: Norm Miller, CEO, Interstate Batteries http://northtexan.unt.edu/content/norm-miller
Stop embarrasing yourself. The ECU guy is right, nobody in texas gives a flying fuk about UNT.

Lets see now..........UH in CUSA for 18 years and wins "2" football championships? Hell, there was more excitement at a Wheeler Street T.S.U. "street dance" than Cullen Blvd than that.

And again........why are all you Big Time Big Leasters still hanging around this forum? We thought yall were all just too good for the rest of us. In fact, hasn't SMU and UH now run out of Gang of 5 conferences to advance to so yall can be better than the conference you would leave behind? PAC 12 and Big 12 for UH and SMU????........that is an all time laugher. Neither of your schools didn't make the cut for the Big 12 for a reason (and I notice TCU single-handedly took both of your B12 spots)--yet............try to figure out all the reasons the B12 left your 2 schools behind without leaving a forwarding address. You best enjoy all your new damn-yankee friends...........TURN-COATS! LOL!

And UH, your stadium will be the nicest erector set looking stadium in the Big Least. Other than it going to be 9,000 seats larger than Apogee Stadium, I am not impressed with any of the renderings I've seen yet; in fact, almost disappointed for your better fans. And yes, I hate our Wing Section at Apogee, too, but that's all I dislike about it, but FWIW.........that section can easily be taken out and then both east and west sides of Apogee being connected the right way with even more seating.

UH, SMU + ecu ='s Big Least. Have yall not found yalls new Big Least fans forum yet?

Get on now little kitty kitty.

GMG!

PS: And who cares what "YOU" think of North Texas anyway?

I like ASU and hope they would be added to the new, bustling, much larger upside CUSA in short order, but what I am not sure of is that the 'Belt has a large enough group of sports writers in the SBC footprint who will ever vote for its better teams for a Top 25 ranking. CUSA's flagship program USM has broken that cycle for CUSA in past years and La Tech comes in as a school that had T-25 rankings a few weeks last Fall. Most of us CUSA newbies are pulling for what will be our new conference mates, but on the other side of the coin, those who have left can go play water volleyball at Niagra Falls on their next trip up North.

In the 12 years UNT was in the SBC, not one time did one of its schools make a Top 25 ranking and hence, another reason UNT wanted a new conference neighborhood that had had Top 25 ranked teams. We know we will get back to Fry-esque standards again in football at UNT, but CUSA gives North Texas a larger and better vehicle in which to have good teams again and to get those rankings as it did when Hayden Fry was in Denton. You may be right that ASU does break that cycle next Fall and I would actually pull for them to do that as an ex 'Belter, but even a good ULM football team merely got a few votes when they beat #8 ranked Arkansas last Fall and almost beat Auburn the next week. I can count 2 or 3 SBC teams last Fall that I really believe could have given Florida State a run for their money in the Orange Bowl.

CUSA gave North Texas the very 2 things we have wanted for quite a long time now and that is no matter who stays or leaves:

(1) Football trips to Houston, Texas, every other year at Rice U.
(2) An FBS level conference that had Texas-based conference rivals and other rivals adjacent to our state as well.

We've been on the ballot of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's writer the last two years even though he covers the Hogs rather than us.

Showed up on George O'Leary's coaches ballot and three of the four voting Sun Belt coaches.
