ODU has some really talented players. But they are small compared to players in CUSA. I think ODU will struggle at first when they enter CUSA. But think they can become a good program.

RE: ODU may join CUSA early for football
Looks like the Va Pilot took the page down. Here some of the quotes from the story.
"I think Old Dominion should and will be eligible for the title for the simple reason that if they're playing a conference schedule and if they put themselves in a position to compete for the championship, they should be able to play for the championship," Banowsky said.
Banowsky said he has discussed the issue of ODU's eligibility with athletic directors at several C-USA schools. "We've not heard any negative reaction to it at all," he said.
Selig said ODU president John Broderick will participate in a conference call of C-USA presidents at 1 p.m. today to discuss conference realignment and potential expansion.C-USA has lost six teams to the Big East in the last two years, including East Carolina and Tulane, which announced in November that they are leaving in 2014.
Still more defections seem likely. The Big East recently lost two potential football-only members when Boise State and San Diego State decided to remain in the Mountain West, and may replace them with C-USA schools. The Tulsa World newspaper reported that Tulsa, the defending C-USA football champion, may jump to the Big East in 2014. Newspapers in Mississippi indicate that Southern Mississippi, which won the 2011 football championship, has also been approached by the Big East.Rice and Texas-El Paso, meanwhile, have been linked to discussions with the Mountain West.

Corrected your link.
Glad to have ODU. They will be tough very soon in a weakened east division.

I really don't think MWC wants to go past 12. They aren't in danger of losing any teams to other conferences now

While this is certainly welcomed (let's get 'er done as quickly as possible) how would the schedule likely work well with 7 in the East and 6 in the west?
Seems like that would require two cross divisionals for the East Teams and three for the West. How does that work?

I'm not exactly sure, but the MAC has been doing it for years.

I wouldn't mind ODU coming in a year early but let's stop the rest of this nonsense. Call a halt to any expansion other than those already accepted. No one from the candidate list is going anywhere. They'll still be there next year or the year after.

If it keeps up we will be having an "Airport" meeting in a few years. No way will 16-18 member work together for long, esp if it was 18 with no crossover games.
