3.41
The University of Louisville's men's basketball team had a cumulative 3.41 GPA during the 2012 fall term! I just want to say that as a U of L graduate, I am very proud of the effort and dedication this team has put toward their academics. Excellence is earned, and these young men's excellence in the classroom and on the court brings great pride for me and I'm sure all those that have been associated with the University. Great job and Go CARDS!

Cards Men's Basketball Produces Record Academic Performance.

A record 15 of 17 players achieved a 3.0 or better GPA for the 2012 fall semester.

Jan. 4, 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - While the University of Louisville men's basketball team has performed well on the court, the Cardinals have excelled in the classroom as well.

The Cardinals produced a collective 3.41 grade point average for the 2012 UofL fall semester, with 15 of the 17 student-athletes on its roster achieved a 3.0 or better grade point average. Both are record numbers for the men's basketball team, which has hovered around a collective 3.0 GPA for nine straight semesters. The team produced a combined 3.16 GPA for the 2011 fall semester and had a 3.13 GPA for the 2012 spring semester. A dozen Cardinals have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better.

The academic achievement is not new to the Cardinals. UofL's men's basketball team earned the 2010-11 and 2011-12 BIG EAST Conference Team Academic Excellence Awards, which recognizes the highest collective grade-point averages in each of the conference's 24 sports.

The Cardinals (13-1, 1-0 BIG EAST Conference), ranked No. 4 nationally in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls, have won eight straight games. Louisville plays its first BIG EAST Conference road game of the season as the Cardinals face Seton Hall in the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. on Wednesday.

Football Produces Record Academic Performance.

47 student-athletes record 3.0 or or better.

Jan. 8, 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - While the University of Louisville football team completed a record-breaking season on the field with a win over Florida in the Sugar Bowl, the Cardinals were doing even better work in the classroom.

The Cardinals produced a collective 2.76 grade point average for the 2012 UofL fall semester with 47 student-athletes on its roster achieving a 3.0 or better grade point average, which is the most since head coach Charlie Strong arrived in 2010. Louisville had 40 in the spring of 2010, which was the highest total under Strong.

The Cardinals had two Dean's Scholars (4.0 GPA) and 74 student-athletes achieve a 2.5 or better grade point average. Strong saw 11 athletes graduate during fall commencement in December and has three student-athletes enrolled in the MBA program.

The Cardinals finished the 2012 season at 11-2 after a 33-23 win over third-ranked Florida. Louisville ended the year ranked 13th in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
