IF the ACC loses ncsu and unc-ch then I think they will look to ECU. Having just Wake Forest and Duke as your football representative in one of the countries largest states is not going work.

With all that said I do not think unc-ch would be willing to go from the biggest fish in a big pond with almost all of the control to a middle of the road member with little influence in a new league.

If just NCSU leaves, then UNC will probably pull for ECU.

Wow, you guys are drunk on purple cool aid.

Purple Haze....not cool aid....just ask Jimi.:ecu:

I still think MEM has the most leverage moving forward closely followed by UH...personally think these guys go before USF or Cincy in next shuffle

MEM can be the most explosive team across the board than any other...both on and off the field. Hell, I take them before all current nBE, CUSA, and almost any ACC team if I had my druthers as conference prez

When and if this happens, college sports will go Thunderdome.
The acc becomes as relevant as the nBE.
I almost want it to happen just for the reactions.

Based on raw attendance figures ECU should have 2.35 times as many of any kind of fan than Tulsa at least in football, if you figure weirdness increases exponentially rather than in a linear manner (see SEC) that easily accounts for the difference.

Well hey, when UVA leaves for the Big 10 and Va Tech heads to the SEC, Old Dominion will surely end up in the ACC. But it wont be the ACC.

And dont call me surely.

I think Obama will ultimately decide the Division I conference breakdown by Executive Order...just like he thinks he can do with everything else.

When that happens look for Duke, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, SMU, Rice, Tulane and Tulsa to be part of the new "Poison Ivy" League.

You guys?? Please do not let one delusional ECU be representative of the entire group. Most ECU fans know that we would probably be the last school invited to the ACC and that would be over UNC's dead body.

We have a better shot of getting into the B-12 or the SEC than the ACC and both are about 0.0000000000000000000000001% chances of ever happening.

All the talk is of them leaving for the nBE to play with Houston and SMU. I am wondering what the chances are that they stay in C-USA?

Answer:

If the nBE asks, they are gone. If the MWC asks, they are gone. If both ask, I'd bank on MWC. I think nBE is more likely to ask.

Nobody will go to nBE in present state...unless Ellis Johnson took over as president of potential university

I think you underestimate how much Tulsa enjoys being in the same conference as Houston and SMU.

....for what? Seriously, not slamming ECU, but you're about as high on the ACC's list as we are on the SEC's list. Everyone knows UConn and Cincy are gone first.

But the sad part usm is not even on BE list......of course that is what happens when you go 0-12:(

If and when Tulsa gets an invite they will be gone. I personally think they would prefer NBE over MWC.

Sorry P Mary, UNC and the ACC will not pull for ECU. they are way to snobbish for that. Think of their last adds outside of UL, Pitt, UM, Cuse, they want academic schools. Only in desperate survival mode will they look to ECU, or USF, UCF,

I think it is dangerous to assume who is on a league's list.

Who thought Big East was poised to add Tulane?

I always thought it was up to Tulane. I think they could have got into the ACC, Big XII, etc. at certain points if they had expressed the desire (and the willingness to spend the money). They were, of course, in the SEC. Even in the early 1980s, LSU-Tulane was big. I wasn't terribly surprised by the Tulane move. I was a little surprised that Tulane accepted, but they were basically going back to their previous (1996-vintage) conference, so I guess it made sense.

We like Larry. When he was offensive coordinator Tulsa ran the veer. John Cooper was the Head Coach. We had some very good teams back then.

But business is business.

I doubt Tulsa stays if they get an invite. One thing to remember is that they don't have a lot of driveable games, one thing some schools like about the new C-USA. USM, on the other hand, has plenty of driveable games in C-USA. NBE will also likely put some funding mandates on schools, and I don't know about how either feels about those.

What we don't know is whether UConn, Cincy, USF are looking to make decisions just among themselves or truly include the new members in debate.

If they chose to act on their own they might well choose a member that best fits their wants and needs than those of the southwestern wing.
