I loved this comment from a USM fan: Go Eagles! And I don't think we should rule anything out. We'd be a better fit for the ACC than people realize.

Instead of going 0-12 in football, USM could go 0-16 in basketball!

Their basketball program is outpacing football right now. 21 in a row at home

They went 0-12 in football because they hired a dumbkopf for a head coach, he's gone now...USM will be more dangerous than ever next year, they have to get their swagger back...Their basketball teams have always been competitive year and year out, I know they give UAB fits, men's and women's teams. Sure wish I could have been in Bartow for the women's game last season, coming from 19 down to beat the Golden Eagles.

The Hattiesburg metro is larger than Clemson, SC and about equal to Blacksburg, VA
Kidding aside, I wish them well so long as it doesn't hurt UAB.

The use is correct.

b : an explanation to prevent misinterpretation
c : a modifying or cautionary detail to be considered when evaluating, interpreting, or doing something

I forget...did you ever say on here how old you are? They eventually became a tough 2 games every season due to the physical nature of their play, but even that emerged long after it should have under Eustacy. Before him? I certainly don't remember their hoops giving us fits...much less qualifying to be called "competitive year and year out."
As for football, it's likely they have many years of struggling ahead of them. Their 0-12 season last year was not solely Johnson's fault. I think they badly underestimated how much of their consistent competitiveness was a result of the - highly unusual in today's non-AQ world - continuity that Bower brought. It wasn't just the consistency in systems and such when on the field, either. I think Bower's, and most of his staff's, deep relationships with schools all over the Deep South made up for some factors, mostly out of USM's control, that were negatives in recruiting. If you look at the timeline, last year would be the first year those negative effects started to really hurt. BTW, I think Larry Blakeney does the same for Troy.
They made the classic mistake of firing the coach who guided the team to the playoffs year after year, but could never reach the Super Bowl. They have the history and support to be successful again, but I'm not so sure that success will ever be as consistent as it was under Bower.

Caveat can most definitely be used as a verb.

ummm, the definitions you gave are all nouns. should it be used as a verb? i dont think so, but some disagree...
either way, your post doesnt point out how the use was correct
"I warning that by saying..."
"I explanation that by saying..."
"I modifying detail that by saying..."

Sort of.
I don't think the word sounds right when used as a verb. I certainly wouldn't use it that way.
I just know that people do use it as a verb.

You can "caveat" all you want, just don't "emptor" it in anyone's lap while "hot".
