I it was just that east Yeager wasn't rebuilt yet for the student section.

RE: New Football Facilities
I didn't mean to go off on a tangent of NIU. Every MAC stadium has their faults... Toledo's east side blows and consessions suck. EMU is empty and has the worst press boxes ever. WMU has an old concourse and has too many seats for their fan base. Never been to CMU. Ball State is smaller but it's one that is very pleasing to the eye. BG is a wind tunnel and very boring architecturally. Never been to Akron. Never been to Kent State. Never been to Miami. Buffalo has way too many stands and a track which blows for college football. Ohio's is nice, and I don't have a problem with anything but where they stick the visiting fans. And Umass doesn't play at home, so I won't be able to judge that for awhile.....
NIU's is just so different because they have had good teams in the last three seasons and still things haven't fallen into place as far as the stadium or fan support goes.

Along with the ancient pressbox, the biggest drawback to Huskie Stadium is lack of seating at either end. To me, the best MAC stadiums have seating on at least three sides. The "bowl" look is a must.
The north endzone of Huskie Stadium is closed off with the Yordon Center, but there are no seats in that end or in the south endzone. To me, a stadium just doesn't have a good look when one end is completely open as our south end is. A view of apartment buildings is not one I want to see from inside a stadium.

The student section runs behind one whole side of the stadium, so there is no good or bad side to be with the ball for visiting team. Unlike an endzone student section where it's loud coming out of the endzone, and loud going in. It's also behind the home team, so it's not a problem for the visiting team being heckled. Which you want at a home field. NIU wins their games at home, so it must work for em, but I don't think it's loud or hard to play at, at all.
The endzone building is nice. The home side has an undeeded rediculous ramp, that goes back and forth the length of the field probably 7 or 8 times. And the press boxes besides EMU may be the worst in the conference.
NIU needs some work...
The away team sideline was in front of the student section until 2005 when the MAC decided that for safety reasons that they would no longer allow it for the WHOLE conference.
That is not true. When we played at Miami in 2006, the Miami students were directly behind the NIU bench.
Well crap...some Asst AD within NIU athletics told me false info...

That is great.
Also its very cool that BGSU put their master plan online with easy access available to the public.
I wish we knew what NIU was planning. We have a big undertaking going on to the West of our Convo (you can see it on the map view on Google) yet there has only been one interview about it where they said that its part of the future plan.

That is the definitely the trend in the MAC right now, better concessions and bathrooms instead of more seats.

What about having daycare rooms (multiple rooms for different age groups) at MAC stadiums? That would boost attendance by thousands! /sarcasm

RE: New Football Facilities
I know his interview was in another thread, but our new AD Sayler has been talking about aggresively getting donations for Miami athletics in general, with an future emphasis on building new facilities as opposed to renovating. From that, I assume he's going to try and get our indoor practice field north of Yager (badly needed), a new field hockey field (ours now has retro Astroturf), new tennis courts (dorms slated for construction on present site), and maybe a new basketball arena way down the line. Time to tap into our "Cradle of Marketers" (see below) or other big alumni. Coming soon to Oxford: the Ben Roethlisberger Football Complex and Paul Ryan Arena?

Um... Since when do we have a men's varsity crew team? We don't.
We only have the women's varsity crew team to even out the scholarships for the football program.
There might be a men's club crew team, but it's not a university supported varsity team.

Right, right. Just wanted to clarify that it doesn't effect our athletic department. Cheers.
