Serious question to ECU fans...
How long are you guys going to let the Big East play with your "feelings"?

The only reason I ask is.. the Big East KNOWS that Boise's out, Louisvilles' on their way out, SDSU is out, the C7 on their way out...

but according to the CBS article:

Quote:*Still no official decision on whether to add East Carolina as an all-sports member. East Carolina is slated to join in 2014 in football only.

I mean unless there's a "Gentlemen's Agreement" between Holland and Aresco already in place, how can the ECU fans allow the BE and their own administration let themselves get toyed with?

Either come out and say "we're all in, or we're permamently football only"? I'm still trying to understand why ECU fans aren't up in arms about the current situation for their non-revenue/basketball sports.

Easy...because ECU is already IN the Big East for Football...something Marshall, UAB, Southern Miss, etc....would have taken in a heart beat.

Plus, odds are, ECU will end up being an all-sports member of the Big East soon.

If that were the case, why don't the remaining Big East members / Aresco say... "Yes, when the other schools leave, ECarolina is "all-in"." To try to drag this out, just reeks of being unwilling to admit

A) they're not going to get the money that want in TV negotiations (and trying to keep ECU from getting hurt?) or
B) they're giving ECU the major "F-U"

You go to the TV networks and say "Here's our lineup... what will you give us".

You don't go to the networks and say "Well, here's part of our lineup, what will you give us".

Something just seems wrong in all of this and I can't put my finger on it.

I really think it has more to do with the timing on when the C7 leave. As soon as that is cleared up is when I believe the all sports invite will happen. Just my 2 cents.

I hate to see some of out teams go to the sinking ship that was once called the Big East. I guess you have to sleep in the bed that you choose though.

Ding!

There is zero need to "rush" an all-sports invite to ECU...especially since the Big East has no clue when the C7 & Notre Dame are leaving.

Its not like the SEC or Big Ten or NFC South will swoop in and offer ECU an all-sports invite in the meantime...as ECU Volleyball, Softball, Women's Track, etc...will always be there for the taking for the Big East.

I dunno.. that's the part I don't get (and maybe why I'd never be a good conference commissioner).. they're struggling to find a TV contract, you'd think they'd want to tell the networks... "here's who we have".

They need to go ahead and make ECU all sports now and quit with the speculation and delay. Get minor issues like this done so the conference can resolve the big ones (TV deal, expansion, etc.). Ridiculous and frustrating.

How is that ship any different than the current CUSA?

Do you expect the NBE TV contract to be less than current CUSA? Have fewer bowl teams?

Not sure I dig---

Exactly. I do give ECU fans a hard time on occassion but I have no doubt that ECU will be all sports in the BE. But the BE should and absolutely can make it crystal clear that ECU is going to be all in so that the speculation will stop and fans do not have to worry about a temporary stop gap home for their non-FB sports. With future conference mates like SMU, Houston, Tulane, UCF in as all sports already, ECU will be a good addition in basketball, in fact better than some of those schools.

Agreed. And plus ECU has been in an all sports league with everyone (except UConn and Temple) at one point or another. I don't know what the holdup is. Has to be with the Catholic 7 issue. The conference needs to start coming together quickly. Stability is needed desperately....for all members. Can we just move on already?

Aresco needs to start sticking up for the rest of his conference and screw the C7. I know he can't publicly say that but in private he certainly can use strong language with them at this point. Everyone knows they are leaving and the rest of the BE needs to get things moving in the right direction.

It will happen officially sooner or later but these discussions have already taken place. East Carolina already knows they are going to be in for all sports if the conference survives. That is why East Carolina is not searching for a conference to place it's other sports.

Exactly, screw those who are leaving. He works for ECU, UCF, USF, UH, SMU, UConn, Memphis, Temple, Cincy, Tulane and Navy. Start doing your job commissioner. We all want to move on and have some closure with this mess. ECU all-sports is no secret...so go ahead and announce it so we all can tackle the bigger issues.

This may be true, but there are ways to do things with class, and ways to do things without class. The nBE is being classless in this regard. Who the F cares what the C7 thinks at this point? ECU is in and should have received confirmation of an all sports invite, timing TBD. The fact that the nBE has not yet given any indication of their intentions is a slap in the face of ECU and they deserve better.

Why not?

Aresco: "We're going to do what's best for the schools that will be here in 2014..."

I just don't get the dilly-dallying Aresco and the BE schools are doing with the tip-toe dancing.

It's blunt, to the point, and doesn't get you in trouble (other than the media folks who will try to spin it as anti-Departees). Hell, it's like what everyone was ragging on BB for... He basically said, "Congrats guys, you moved on; I still have {insert number of remaining schools} C-USA schools to deal with now."

CurveItAround Wrote:he fact that the nBE has not yet given any indication of their intentions is a slap in the face of ECU and they deserve better.

Exactly, this is how i would be feeling if I were an ECU fan... I mean (again, I have no hard feelings to ECU for moving), if I were a Pirate fan , alum, student.. I'd be kinda pissed at how it still feels like "Well, we'll take your football, but the rest of your sports aren't worthy".

Thank you. It feels like a slap in the face...especially with all the facility upgrades we have made recently. Not a way to treat eventually one of your most dedicated member schools. I expect more respect.

ECU Officials seem to be handling this situation quite well, something other left-behind fans from CUSA schools aren't doing as well.

I agree Terry Holland is a class act and is handling the situation well...but a lot of our patience (some of us) is starting to wear thin. We always had a chip on our shoulder...and the chip and hard work has helped us get to this point. Just tired of the BS and want some closure. It is a slap in the face for a lot of us when we just got a fb only invite. Gracious for the invitation...but we are better than that. Especially when schools we were in Conference USA with for a while got all sports invites right off the bat...some with less than stellar athletic success. Nothing against them...we just think we are equally as important and on par with everyone in the new Big East. We are ALL in this together.

Well my "can't say pubicly" comment was referring to him saying "screw the C7".
