This is his 8th year. I'm sure the "international incident" had an effect (did for Memphis). I imagine if the Rebs make the NCAA tourney, things will heat up.

He is from Mississippi, makes decent scratch and might be waiting for the right time to hit the market.

A lot of coaches take the wrong job for the wrong reasons ($$) and end up jobless three years later. Kennedy has a decent enough gig and could be in the driver's seat later this year.

If he does pick up another job, I hope a chauffeur is included in the contract

I'm not just or even primarily talking about the international incident and the cabby. That was just a symptom from the things I've heard.

He and Huggins are cut from the same cloth.

Kennedy played under Jim Valvano and Gene Bartow. Was a parade AA out of high school and then coached under Murray B. and Huggy.

Just to make it clear, I am NOT saying Kennedy is great at all, I am not even going so far as to say he is good. I am only saying

2 NIT wins including a win over Memphis. 0 NCAA wins.

vs

1 NIT win including a loss to Ole Miss. 0 NCAA wins.

Numbers are numbers.

That doesnt even include the top 25 records for both teams during Pastner's reign.

Why do you keep harping on NIT wins and top 25 wins like they are important, instead of.. Oh, say, NCAA appearances? The reason we play the games is to get to the NCAA and win the tournament, not win the NIT or beat top 25 teams during the regular season.

You do realize that is all Pastner has right?

So you would rather go to the NIT than the NCAA against better competition? Become an Ole Miss fan then

Nice reply! So you agree, in the past 4 years Kennedy has done more than Josh?

1 nit win, 1 loss to ole miss

or 2 nit wins, 1 win over Memphis...

Bottom line, Kennedy has outperformed Josh.

If you are fine with going to the NIT every year. I'm not and JP is providing that opportunity to win in the NCAA. You can go to the Not Invited Tournament and cheer on Ole MIss singing your Hotty Toddy.

No I do not agree with you. If we had gone to the NIT we would be winning games. We are going to the NCAA and getting seeded against good teams that have beat us. . I'll take the NCAA any day over the NIT

JP win loss record 75-29 (0.721)

Kennedy (at Ole Miss) 125-78 (0.616)

That speaks for itself.

NIT wins only matter back in the days when the NIT was the tourney to be in...like the year Memphis lost to Bradley in the finals. If the NIT is such a big deal, maybe we should trot out the fact that our former coach did fine in the NIT...as in winning it. 03-lmfao Hell, we even had a parade.

That is the silliest post.

In 1997 two coaches available:

Tic Price (@ NO 1994-97) 63-27 .700 1 NCAA, 1 NIT
Bill Self (@ Oral Roberts 1993-97) 55-54 .505 1 NIT

Obviously Tic Price had the better winning percentage and NCAA trip, therefore is was a no-brainer he is a better coach, right?

A win loss record is a silly stat?

It's a far better measure of a coach's success than trips to the NIT and winning in the NIT. Both of my stats are at their current jobs it does not include Kennedy's previous stint at Cincy.

I'm not bashing Kennedy, I think he's doing the best he can with what he's got but to say he's a better coach than Pastner just because he's won more NIT games is foolish. He's been to the NIT more than we have. Have we won an NCAA game? No but neither has Kennedy because he's never been.

Stop your begging and whining. Haven't you heard the expression, "A blind hog will occasionally find an acorn" or somewhat similar prose. So the bears have a fairly decent team every 4-5 years.Based on your $1 overpriced CA ticket offer, you need us, we don't need you....and after this year, you'll likely be back in your familiar, mediocre rut.

I don't think so, but if it makes u feel any better, what ever. The truth is, we have a good recruiting class coming in. Remember the player from Ms. that u wanted this year? Well he'll be in red and blue next year. Plus most of the team will be back next year. And to think we need u and u don't need us is laughable. We don't need yall for ANYTHING. But do and say what ever makes u feel better about your team.03-shhhh

Have you compared the Memphis and Ole Miss 2013 recruiting classes?

Memphis stands at #3 nationally. And, honestly, I can't figure out why Kansas moved ahead of us to #2 except, well, they're Kansas.

Hey, if Ole Miss doesn't need Memphis, then why do you want to play us in basketball?

For all those high recruiting classes, where does that leave yall? No votes in either poll that's where. And no victories over ANY top 25 team during Pastner's rein. Seems Pastner doesn't want to play us, uses the recruiting angle as an excuse.

OH, this is an OM fan. I figured it was memtigbb or salukieguy. It's hard to tell the difference.

Heaven forbid one can recognize accomplishments of others. I have only pointed out what I consider to be a successful run by Kennedy, not in comparison to others, but based upon his merits.

It is the others with little d?ck syndrome that keep wanting to argue against Kennedy as if it is a referendum on Pastner.

Please point to where I "slam" the previous "underachieving" years. I amy interested to see where I have posted that.

Actually, I am getting slammed most of the time by "fans" who claim that the 2009-10 team was awful and that I am wrong for thinking that team was good.
