CPC Pics from 1-4-2013
What struck me most driving up to the CPC is how immense it is. Really tall and imposing. Enjoy the pics!

Thanks for the pics! Yeah we won't have a problem punting in that IPF. It's a great time to be a Huskie!

The roof is 65 feet high in the middle. Punts will hit the ceiling unless they're kicked right down the middle.

Yeah trying to angle punts might be a problem.

I searched for average height of a punt. At Physics Forum, they calculated the average height of an NFL punt to be 85 feet. The calculation was based on average length and hang time of NFL punts. Of course, college punters will average somewhat less. Still, I think our punters will be practicing outside quite a bit even when the rest of the team is practicing indoors.

RE: CPC Pics from 1-4-2013
Remember when the new Cowboy stadium just opened and there was a huge concern on how high the jumbotron was from the ground and one of the punters hit it in practice and it would have been a huge concern during games. Nobody has hit it thae past 2 years in a game and it does hang 90 feet from the field.

But if we keep Jordan Lynch at punter we really won't need to worry about the IPF being 65 feet tall.

You're probably right, but what's more important is you can work on your special teams coverage and return units inside by using the JUGS machine to fire "kicks" right at the apex of the roof. You're still a little limited, but it's a huge improvement over the Dekalb rec center or trying to do it outside in crappy weather.

The punters and kickers can work outside individually (and do) when they need to . And, it's not like we'll never practice outdoors anymore. The weather is fine most of the time and the coaches will prefer getting outside whenever possible.

What it will do is eliminate the "rained out" practices that we always seem to get in the spring and even sometimes in the fall. They can make the schedule a lot more rigid, which will pay dividends for the players in terms of balancing academics with all of their work.

If that's the correct calculation, then punts would have to have a hang time of 4.0 seconds or less to not hit the ceiling, even in the middle.

Contrary to what Rich Eisen believes, Punters Are NOT people, so they do not need the comfort of an IPF. Make them brave the cold and elements outside if needed
