Interesting, C-USA will probably be a better basketball conference than football overall.

Before that you ask? 126, 141, 126, 201, 205, 240. What part of this decade has been pretty great? Win some meaningful games and finish in the top 100 in the RPI and we will talk. That is why nobody is talking about North Texas.
Not saying we've done much better until last season, but..

The North Texas fans seem excited to be in the conference & just want to be part of the conversation, that's all.
Nothing wrong with that.

I can tell you why no one talks about UAB, because nobody even knows who the hell y'all are...just a hyphen satellite school.
Anyway, UNT, Charlotte, ODU, MTSU are all good adds to the basketball arena of CUSA.
And UNT is a directional school. Unless you are Southern Cal, having a direction in your schools name generally isn't a good thing.
UAB has been to the elite 8 and has a fairly high number of NCAA appearances.
UNT has...well I actually don't know anything about UNT without looking you guys up. I had never even heard of UNT until we played you guys in basketball like 5 years ago. We considered the loss humiliating and devastating because it came at the hands of SBC school that is unknown to fans outside the SBC.
I think UNT has some nice potential, but STFU. Your program hasn't ever done a damn thing. UAB is a quality program that accomplished more in its first 4 years than UNT has in its entire history.

C-USA will be a good basketball league
UAB has 14 tournament appearances in its 34 years of basketball existence! That's amazing! Since that 2004 season I've usually watched them when they are in the tourney. But their success and consistency is very impressive. Hopefully they get things together and make it 15 this season.

Actually we do.
On a forum for the CUSA, sure. We're a new entry, still technically Sun Belt.
I wasn't the one being a dick, he acted like an ass first, apparently I'm supposed to bow down to the greatness that is UAB basketball; it's not like I'm talking to UTEP here, I'm talking about UAB. The University of Alabama-Birmingham. Didn't really put any effort into basketball until Johnny Jones. Am I supposed to be intimidated by your elite eight appearance in the 80s or your final four appearances?
The point is, I'm not talking to Charlotte, UTEP, ODU or Memphis about basketball. I'm talking to UAB. The tallest midget. CONGRATULATIONS!
I wasn't trying to be a dick, I was just pointing out why UNT isn't ever in this conversation. I don't come on here clamoring every season that UAB is going to win C-USA in football, because they haven't done **** in the past. If they start winning something, then maybe I'll talk. Being a team that is constantly between 100-200 in the RPI rating is not going to get you in the conversation in this new league. There is a lot of history that will be in this league next year, along with several programs on the rise. I hope UNT becomes one of those teams. It would help us all. And FWIW:
Charlotte has 11 NCAA Tournament appearances.
UTEP has 17
ODU has 11
UAB has 14
UAB fits in this group. So the tallest midget comment is just stupid.
I have no problem with UNT, and I hope truly hope you guys come in and play great ball from day 1. You wanted to know where UNT fit into this conversation, and currently, they don't fit anywhere.

It would not be a stretch to say UAB is one of the flagships (along with UTEP), if not the flagship in C-USA basketball now.

When Charlotte comes back to CUSA next year, we will have the most conference championships if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully we are back on track with being a consistent NCAA team.

I was thinking this as well. Aren't we like 53ish in RPI this week?
The season is half way over, conference play just started. Finish up strong and make the tournament then you will get praise.
Charlotte is 14-2 but still has 14 games to play. Alot can change in that time.
Yeah, I get how college basketball works.
I think the point being made is that a team with two wins is getting basketball love and LT wasn't mentioned. No one is upset over it though, I think people will start noticing the Bulldogs more in the coming weeks. We are on a collision course with Utah State with both schools sporting 14 wins.

Southern Miss has made real progress. 21 consecutive home wins is impressive.

Doh! A Blazer fan jinxed us by mentioning the streak. And guess who we play next at home? UAB!

Good luck to you.
I checked out your basketball facility when you guys were added to CUSA....it's very round. But seemingly a nice facility.
Any upgrades or anything planned for it? Seems like it is missing a video scoreboard and LED boards that many programs have these days, so just curious.

You have to put Charlotte right up there with the conference's top echelon.
