Replace Blaze statue in front of Bartow?

Personally, I never cared for the idea of a dragon being chosen as mascot for UAB Athletics. Way back when UAB first began playing basketball, in the late 70s, Frank Sutherland was suited up as Beauregard Rooster, not so much as a mascot, but primarily to entertain the crowd, especially the kids, and to add to the ball games at the civic center a more jovial atmosphere. Frank had that special savvy and played the part very well. He was humorous, yet conservative, rarely made a spectacle of himself, and almost never taunted the referees or opposing team or fans.

I remember quite a bit of taunting of referees. It was allowed back then, and the refs played along.

Why don't you like the dragon? The blazers name and our mascot are original and unique.
