Akron 12 point favorites going into this one. I didnt realize Akron beat Penn St by 20 this year. Huskies have some momentum recently, and Akron may be a bit sluggish with the Convo atmosphere, closer than expected:

Guess not...we beat them 2 years ago...that's it recently. I thought there was an East team we always beat. Oh well...I still say we win. Huge upset!

I hope Nader has a breakout game. The team needs to continue to grow. Cut down the TOs, shoot 45% and 70% FTs and we will win. Crowd maybe 750 with the students gone.

Crowd will be the same 1000 loyal fans. I got a group of 10. On my way to Fattys to tailgate. I think we get a huge win. I hope Springs is in the starting line-up. 3pm is a silly starting time. Sat games should start at 7pm for a bigger crowd.

Akron is a tough hill to climb for NIU. But it's Victor E.'s birthday! DO IT FOR VICTOR!

Keith Dambrot has been at Akron for 9 years and is 194-91. He's 39-12 vs. the MAC West. Whew. Didn't realize he was THAT good. All of Akron's losses have come to good squads, too. 7 straight 20 win seasons. It's like the anti-NIU.

Akron is only 7-7 in DeKalb all time...so that. Akron has won 6 straight by an average of 21 points and outrebounded teams by 15 a game during the streak. They've shot better than 50% in 7 of the last 10. 11 of Akron's 15 players have at least one game with ten points. They are 8th in the NCAA in blocked shots. SEVEN, SEVEN....players aver 7 points or more for the Zips. Akron is a scoring machine.

Zeke Marshall and Pat Forsythe are a pain to get shots over (those two average more blocks pg than 301 D1 teams) and Alex Abreu can just dish from the point.

Akron is deep, hustles on both ends, and is just good. Gulp.

NIU is improving, and that's my focus and joy right now. Shooting 81% from the line the last 3 games. Bowie, Baker and Springs are emerging as real players.

Not sure how NIU wins this one. They'll have to deny the bigs the ball and fight like hell to get rebounds. The zone D will have to be amazing for NIU to force long shots and have a chance.

That being said, NIU hadn't won in Oxford in 32 years so you play the game and hope for the best.

I think the Huskies battle, but just get out-executed by a complete team.

Even with 2500 people, the Convo rocks. Winning winning winning is always the answer to attendance issues. It's not like it's expensive to go to a game.
