LOL. The secret got out last weekend amongst the Ole Miss fans. That was for sure judging by what Coalberg looked like Sunday morning.

That will save you about 10-15 minutes versus going down Byhalia to 78.
This is the route that I take when I come home.
Also, stay on 78 until you absolutely cannot go any longer (i.e. the road ends). Once you get off you will be on Coalburg Road. Take a right on Coalburg Road and a left at your first stop light (Daniel Payne Boulevard). That saves you from having to go through Adamsville and Pratt City. ~20 minutes.
Yep, Coalburg and Daniel Payne is the way I get to 65 as well. Anyone who hasn't been this way before should mapquest the directions if they dont have GPS, as it appears to lead to nowhere.
I just made the trip a few weeks ago for the first time in about a year, and I was glad to see that the speed limit on 78 in AL has been increased to 70mph.
The trip now is nice. I used to want to pound a nail in my face when the trip went through Carbon Hill.
Fortunately I never had to make that trip. I started doing the Birmingham-Memphis thing about the time Corridor X opened up in Jasper (2007).

Not when the Nut Hut was still standing.
Was that the place the 18 wheelers kept running off the road and directly into?
