The new OC hire is a critical one for McGee going into 2013 spring practice. We desperately need an offense that can control the tempo of the game and not force the defense to come back on the field after repeated "3 & Outs". It will be impossible to judge his hires if they are lacking a "track record" at their assigned position. We will just have to wait & see - praying that Coach McGee is a great judge of blooming talent..

So far he has been or our asst coaches are desirable:
...Our first OL coach went to the Indy Colts
...OC went to bigger name coach
...RB coach to Cincy

"But it's sad to see basketball being left in the dust when you consider who UAB used to be conference rivals with, such as Louisville, DePaul, Marquette and now Memphis."

Champlin gets it. The latest realignment will probably end up being a boost for football but for basketball fans it's just another gut punch.

Memphis is not going to be playing Louisville, Depaul, and Marquette either. Not unless they schedule them OOC games. I still get to watch UAB play so my gut is fine. Do I wish we were playing in an elite league? Sure. To be perfectly honest if you remove Memphis from the equation, basketball is a wash from it's current configuration right now. UAB needs to dominate C-USA like Memphis did.
