RE: Bowen spinning??
Now if that happens, we are officially screwed...

Especially since they are talking Butler and St. Louis instead of just including us.

Boise and SDSU in the Big East did not make sense but UCONN and Cincy in the MWC does?

I've been following this whole process pretty hard for quite a while, and it simply is too confusing.

It's all a bit crazy right now.

Actually a MWC FB only and joining the C7 in BB works for me as well. Isn't it basically the same thing as we discussed earlier?

Hell, too confusing at this point.

Those reports are untrue, apparently.

Neill Ostrout @NeillOstrout
#UConn official refutes story of school having contact with Catholic 7 and MWC, splitting hoops/FB "it's nothing we would consider."

Raphielle Johnson @raphiellej
OK so there's that. Not happening, at least as far as UConn's concerned.

RE: Bowen spinning??
Why is anyone still taking this blogger seriously? He has written speculation after speculation on what he WANTS to happen. One thing i do see happening is that UCONN very well could end up with the C7 in basketball. What happens to the football team is another matter. But UConn has deep ties to the C7 schools and based on the projected football TV deals being batted around the C7 deal could bring UConn more money. But of course i suggested this option last week.

Eat or be eaten. The nBE - C7 is mediocre in football and pretty good in basketball. Go out and try to find some good basketball schools and add them now. Be good at something. The C7 is showing that they can get a great basketball TV contract. We could do the same. Add our really good core and add the four best bball schools they can find.

I would be stunned if UConn and especially if Cinci did this. If measured head to head, basketball only, I am sure the C7 would earn more than the nBE. No way an all sports member of the nBE doesn't do substantially better than the C7. It seems now like this Jersey Guy blogger is just throwing sh*t at the wall hoping it sticks.

rut roh.

If that happens, is it officially the point where we stop saying "no matter what, we're better off than where we were"?

I've been hearing our TV contract has dropped to around $40 million/year. The same as C7 basketball. There just isn't much demand for the teams in our conference and no programs available that will help football. I think you try to be very good at something, and I think we've maxed out football. I hope they concentrate on basketball, where there are some good programs that may be available and fit geographically (nothing west of SMU/Houston). I'd still take Tulsa and possibly UMASS all sports and start hunting the best basketball we can find.
