Their 2nd baseman, Altuve, is legit. Other than that, there isn't a position player on their roster that I would want playing for the Tigers.

Ditto with their pitching staff. They don't belong.

Their move to the AL West is not helping either. Rather than getting to play the Cubs, Brewers, Pirates, Cards and Reds....they find themselves going against the A's, Angels, Rangers and Mariners.

David Price is injured. Triceps problem. Likely to miss at least one, maybe two starts.

Rays are pretty ruthless when it comes to trading guys and making sure they don't commit long term and spend big money. WOTS is that they will likely trade Price before the deadline.

If Price returns healthy...Does anyone think the Tigers should make a run at him? I'd be willing to part with one or two key prospects if we were in position to get to the postseason. Trotting out Verlander, Price, Sherzer, then Fister/Sanchez is a difference maker in the playoffs.

Of course, the bullpen could implode by then and our needs might be completely different.

Verlander looked about as bad as I've ever seen him tonight. The 7-run inning was bad enough, but he walked in two of those runs with the bases loaded, which (IMO) is pretty much a cardinal sin for a pitcher.

Verlander has had two rough starts in a row. Just looked out of synch vs. Texas, and never got comfortable. First time I have ever seen him look frustrated.

He was all jazzed up for some reason. Throwing harder than normal. Didn't look like he was calm and in control like normal.

Slightly off topic...but Terry Francona is a pretty darn good coach. I'm shocked he's got the Indians playing that well. I thought they would be cooked this season.

RE: Tigers thread...2013 edition
Trade that needs to happen:

Rick Porcello for Tyler Clippard (Nationals)

Porcello:
2013-5.1 mill salary
2014-arbitration eligible
2015-arbitration eligible
2016-free agent

Clippard:
2013-4 mill salary
2014-arbitration eligible
2015-arbitration eligible
2016-free agent

*Get cash from Washington or a prospect to even out the 1.1 mill salary difference.
*Washington needs/wants another starter
*Tigers need a closer. Clippard is their setup man, even though he was their closer last year (his stats are great)
*Porcello's value might be as high as it will ever be.
*Nats still have Soriano as their closer, and Drew Storen (billed as closer of the future) in bullpen

I'm wondering what Nats fans think of that proposal? 03-lmfao

I have one:

1. I have five bucks.
2. You have five thousand bucks.

Give me 2, and I'll give you 1. 02-13-banana

Seriously, I like the idea of Benoit closing better than Clippard, and the chance of getting a good setup man would be easier and less costly. If I'm Dave, that's the direction I take.

Just itching to get Smyly into the starting rotation eh? If Randon threw those 103s high instead of in the dirt, he would be NASTY.
