Yep. We'll be in C-USA next year for all sports except football.

Just came off the MWC Board. FWIW, talk is heating up on BYU returning to that conference with San Diego State. If BYU returns, the MWC has it's eyes on UH as the 14th member. UH didn't tell the MWC "no" last week like SMU did. We'll see what happens. The longer this goes on, the more glad I am that Rice is CUSA. It's more stable and the geography is tighter than the BE. We also have a TV contract. I look forward to the new rivalries. I wouldn't mind an expansion to 16. A four-team playoff would be good for income and exposure.

RE: UNT, MTSU, ODU, FIU, FAU, LaTech, Charlotte and any
Good luck to all new and remaining members of CUSA. I became a college football fan watching UCF play in CUSA; this can be a very entertaining conference. You've got a mix of teams from the WAC, SBC, FCS, and CUSA 2.0 so it's going to be pretty interesting watching how it all plays out.
I have to assume Tulsa will be the team to beat if they stick around, but one of the new guys may surprise us. Will La Tech be able to maintain their 2012 level of play, and will USM be able to put that season behind them? Will UTEP or Marshall finally live up to the potential we've all seen in them? Will FIU or FAU follow in UCF's footsteps and keep the eastern crown in Florida? Which of the FCS move ups are going to be contenders, and which are going to struggle? We will see!

They have convinced themselves they are better than the new schools entering CUSA. They have every right to feel that way, even if it is based on fantasy and not fact. The new BE will basically be the old CUSA. Nothing more, nothing less. Boise would not have said F'U if that wasn't fact. I look forward to playing you all. Trips to Dallas, Nashville, Miami, Ruston, etc excite me.
Together we will rise to new heights.
Go CUSA
Ha! I see most of the nastiness coming from the fans of schools staying in CUSA (ahem, Tallgrass and a few Marshall and USM posters). Sure people respond after that, but there's not much unprovoked denigration of CUSA coming from the departing fans.
However, to fans of the arriving schools: it isn't usually like this...only when schools announce their leaving. It got nasty like this back in 2004, and history has proven to repeat itself. After the start of the new sports calendar, when the rest of us are gone; it should calm down.
I've avoided talking down to the remaining fans...not worthwhile, and I usually pride myself on remaining civil.
Several of the departing programs' fans remain civil and respectful, but at times we all get lumped into a bucket of hate, spite, and flames. Thankfully, I believe that intelligent posters can figure out how threads that end up in firestorms get started, who throws gasoline, who just walks away, and who the voices of reason are from departing and remaining programs.
Good, common sense posters exist at all programs, as do other types of posters.

I'm so ashamed...I said "their leaving." I had originally said "their departure", which would have been fine. Then I decided to say "they're leaving", but only changed half of it. Off to grammar purgatory for me!

I've seen nothing that says MT going to CUSA early is contingent upon ECU leaving early, and I doubt that is the case.

OK - two points.....
1) "travel very, very, well on the road." ---- c'mon guy, don't set yourself up like that. Free pass this time.
2) MTSU was the road trip I was most awaiting....I lived in Murfreesboro for 2 years. Two very good friends live there (well, 1 is very nearby) ...... you've managed to cut those highly anticipated trips to a --meh-- at this point. Any tailgate area known as "the grove" is not a place SOUTHERN MISS fans aspire to visit.

I used to respect you. No longer. That post was totally uncalled for. Your insecurity is overflowing.
Did you read the OP? I'm not annoyed with the welcoming of new schools. Of course they should be welcomed and I'm happy for them. But these 'NBE fantasy world' 'they think they're higher than thou' threads need to stop. If anything THAT is screaming insecurity. I have every right to post on CUSA forums and defend Tulane. We're still in CUSA and this **** is getting old.
And if that is the post that lost your respect from me I doubt there was much to begin with. C'est la vie, I lost an internet fan.

I don't think they are wrong. They are the biggest budget programs, and that is one of the biggest factors when comparing college athletic programs.
But that does not mean that the remaining programs, and the new programs, can't rise to that level and beyond.
If that were actually true, you, ODU, would be at or very near the top of the 2012 C-USA group. In reality, unbeknownst to most in the realignment crap, t's not about the money but about the quality. And in that vein, C-USA hasn't missed too much of a beat at all --- and has greatly increased the potential growth of the conference.
