Yeah, as a WW2 buff I now that very few E model ME-109s survived, as that is an early war version and most were destroyed during the fighting. This one is gorgeous.

That was fun to watch. Thanks. Did the rear landing wheel stay down when they flew back then, too? Don't remember that detail.

Yes, it was not retractable. The E model was the last one with that sleek ME look; the F had the 37 mm cannon that fired through the prop and the housing was bigger, and the G had that huge honking engine.
