& there it is.
Frankly, looking at the 7 schools I think the C stands for Crap 7.
The remaining 5 invites had better go to some decent hoops programs.
I do believe that the C7 were correct in jumping ship though.

Just thought I'd get it out of the way.
The RPI of the lower teams is certainly not impressive this year.

Look for Xavier, SLU, Creighton, Dayton, and Butler to join them. St. Joes gets left out because of market duplication.
The rest of the A-10 will be quite upset but will have some quality programs in there. If I'm a conference commish and/or AD thinking outside the box, I see about getting schools like VCU, UMass, U of R, George Mason, etc... hooked up with schools like ODU, Charlotte, UAB...

Are you suggesting that ODU, Charlotte and UAB drop football? Cause surely our Commissioner won't be that progressive.

RE: Catholic 7 in line for huge payday
I find this part interesting
"Although the teams can leave the Big East without any exit fees at the end of June 2015, they hope to leave much sooner. With the TV deal up and Fox looking for content right away, it would make sense to try to get out at the end of this season, if that could be negotiated."
Memphis thinks its leaving C-USA to get to play many of the power teams in the Big East for basketball, but once they arrive they will actually be playing Tulane and ECU more, who have traditionally been very bad RPI teams. This is funny to me, but must have Memphis fans (which are usually bigger fans of basketball) angry and pissed.

They will ge to play UConn and Cinci for at least one season. Temple is also a solid basketball addition.

An all Catholic League as been in the rumor mill for several years now. Look for University of Detroit Mercy (up and coming program) and Xavier to join.

I think UDM is more likely to go to the A-10 to backfill some of its losses. Maybe Cleveland State too.
I think the C7 will create a private league that is mostly, but not entirely, Catholic schools.
My best guess is that the C7 adds Xavier, Butler, Creighton, St. Louis and Dayton.

UDM is a Jesuit school and has been pushing the all Catholic League for years. Now that Coach Ray McCallum has them at a more competitive level, they may be ready to make a move. I thought something might be going on when UDM and Oakland U decided NOT to be in the same conference.

RE: Catholic 7 in line for huge payday
I had to look up which of those schools were Catholic and which weren't. Turns out Butler is the only one that isn't. If the C7 decided to be all Catholic, or if Butler decided not to join as the odd man out, then I could easily see UDM taking the 12th spot.

My guess is that of all those schools, the one that the Seven would *most* like to get is Butler.

Yeah. They've been to two recent NCAA Finals, too. I'm betting that they bring more TV dollars than anyone else on that list.
That new contract is every bit as important as religious affiliation, maybe more. They've got plenty of Catholics already.
