I wonder if the practice swuad gets more exposure than the practice squad. Either way, this is good for Harnish.

Learn something new everyday...

What's a reserve future contract

It's a non-roster player's version of getting re-upped for another season basically.

RE: Colts sign Harnish to future reserve contract
I heard another team was interested in him (can't remember who) and the Colts asked if he wanted to be traded or stay with them. He said he wanted to stay with the Colts and they resigned him with a bump in salary.

This is good, I hope. I'd love nothing more than to see Harnish do what Turner did and play behind a stud player for a few years (LT) and then pop up when there is a position available as a starting QB in a program poised for success.

Turner DID play while behind Tomlinson. Harnish has never played and except for injuries will never play in Indy. If there was other interest he should have asked to be traded.

haha I was going to say that could use some editing...."was the Colts' seventh round pick in last April's NFL draft, and was signed to their practice swuad after being one of the final cuts in training camp."

+1 He is super happy staying with Colts for now. Saw him at a home game & he said being with the Colts was a dream come true...something he wished for his whole life. Let Luck take all the poundings while Chandler learns and grows.

Exactly. I've always said third string QB is the greatest job on earth. $405,000 a year to take a few practice snaps and not get tackled? Sign me up.

Will he make $405K if he gets demoted to the practice squad again next season or does he only get the $405K if he makes the roster?

Yeah, he's really wasting his time there......

The Colts are one of the classiest organizations in the NFL. It's in his home state. He's got a front row seat in the classroom that enables him to learn while watching the development of one of the most talented young QB's to enter the NFL in recent memory.

#1) Harnish wouldn't have need to ask for a trade. PS players are basically free agents that can be signed to 53-man rosters at any point. Any team could have signed him to a reserve contract.

#2) PS players make like 6k/wk. Only get paid that moment. Chandler is living a good life. Same w/ NaPalm. Palmer was probably making the league rookie min. at 405k/season. He played like 13 games for them, so that's like 31,000/week before taxes.

I'm teaching my future son to become a longsnapper.

+1
Long snappers/punters/place kickers

those are the money positions. no kid wants to play them at a young age, because there is no glory. but glory = concussions and torn ACLs.

if you started at a young age, you could groom a pretty good long snapper or punter. Most of the place kickers are former soccer players who got wise.

So when does Harnish get to show what he can do with Indy? Probably never. The reason Turner got the big contract was because he got opportunities to play and made the most of it. Apparently he is satisfied with his status of just being marginal at best. If that is the case more power to him.

You're an idiot.

It worked out just fine for Matt Flynn, Matt Schuab, Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady and many others. Not everybody started first on the depth chart like Peyton Manning.

1 - Drew Stanton.

And if you don't think that is close ask Caleb Hanie
