RE: Big East early 2013 rankings
Anyway, Big East football next year is going to be darn tough. If the Tigers were somehow to win two or three Big East games next year that will be a great accomplishment. There will be no gimmes in the Big East next season.

Comparing us going to the Final Four with NC State and Villanova winning the NC.

We'll likely be seeded in the 5-11 range. It is not uncommon for schools in this range to make a Final Four. In fact, 22 teams have done it in the 34 years since the tournament extpanded to 40 teams in 1979.

NC State and Villanova winning the title as 6 and 8 seeds were much more unlikly than a 5-11 seed making the Final Four.

34 * 4 = 136. 22/136 = 0.16. 84% of 5 to 11 seeds in the past 34 years have not made the Final Four.

I don't know what you mean by uncommon. But to me that's uncommon.

A Final Four would be a literally incredible (that is not believable) finish to the season. It would likely be one of the great tournament stories of all time.

Even a Sweet Sixteen, while not necessarily a literally fantastic (that is almost of the realm of fantasy) outcome, would certainly be an amazing finish to the season.

I'd be happy. Post that with our earlier successes the past ten years and our program looks healthy
