Delaware was actually approached by CUSA before. So there is some possibility and they honestly look like a better addition than some of the remaining options. Consistent fan base, good academics, good location.

We should all go independent so we can avoid the embarassment of playing one another.

When will the madness stop.

Freakin' Tulane and ECU started all this schit!

Seriously? No way you really believe that, unless of course you just had your first birthday. 01-wingedeagle

Actually the $ec is to blame since they came up with the bcs & did everything they could to block out smaller programs from getting bcs access & $$$. Ever since its "how do i get out of my conference into a automatic qualifying league". the $ec also locked up a majority of the good money making bowls since most of them are in the $ec's back yard forcing more bowls & so on. Since the $ec also plays crap ooc schedules we have had more d1aa schools move up so they can be the sacrificial lamb & make $$$ for their school, more schools means more conferences (sunbelt) & we have to have bowls for them so lets make some new ones.......& dont get me going on espn's roll in all of this. Ugh!. Someone please pass the asprin.

Nope, that's not correct either. It started with ND signing their own TV contract. The NCAA tried to stop it, but couldn't legally do it. Once that happened the old Metro (8 teams - Memphis, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Tulane, Southern Miss, South Carolina, Florida State, and University of Cincinnati - btw, look at the list of teams and understand why older Southern Miss fans are bitter) hired RayCom to do a study on a 16 team league that would include, among others, Miami, Boston College, West Virginia, and Pittsburg. This made the SEC nervous, so to break it up, they went after Florida State. This in turn made ACC nervous, so they went after and were able to pick up Florida Sate. The SEC then took South Carolina and Arkansas. Since Florida Sate was stolen, Miami backed out, and not long afterwards became part of the Big East football with 8 teams.

It began before 1990... over 20 years ago.

I believe georgia & oklahoma suied the ncaa & woN over tv revenue. That allowed ND to get their tv deal. Also ND was not nbc's first choice, Oklahoma was bu they would not go indy & play a "national" schedule.

Really, several power teams broke away and formed the CFA. When the NCAA threatened sanctions, OU and UGA and filed suit for their TV rights, but it could have been any of the group. Greed has deep roots. Current realignment is simply history repeating itself.

No, the ACC started it when they added BC, VT, Maimi.

Don't stand there and tell me everyone from Maimi to Memohis played no part.

This is what I realistically think the conference would look like IF it has further defections (and no departing members return). I think we'd see a smaller 14 team league before we'd get to a point of adding teams just for the sake of doing so.

Um, I think(and I swear if I'm wrong about this somebody should be shot) that FAU was added to give FIU a travel partner. It would be the dumbest thing in the world to FIU and Arky State in those divisions if this was the set up.
