I have no inside info, but the Press reported earlier major announcements would come forth this month.

I am thinking it might be coming forth in the next 10 days.

The reason? Total speculation, but IF there was an announcement regarding football's return, and IF raising student fees is a necessity to do so, such an announcement might be best served if the students were still on break to do so.

Let's face it, when the students voted against football's return they basically voted against a tuition increase.

Announcing such an increase without a vote, since Stanton has set precedent to do so, would best be announced with the least chance for a revolt.

I think I just said - I don't know the exact date. I was told last week it would come this past week, but it obviously didn't. Feb. 15th is the deadline.

I know, I am too. I thought it was going to happen this week, but it's coming, unless the bottom falls out.

Hopefully the odds of that (the bottom dropping out) aren't good, but I'm kind of used to it by now.

The odds of that happening are extremely low. The board (TBR) and ETSU board of trustees have already voted. It's a done deal as far as I know, and I've heard nothing to the contrary.

There is a member of the faculty senate raising hell. That's not a problem, because the faculty senate is really not very strong in their current incarnation. Yes, there may be a small group of faculty in the President's office. Big deal. It's not going anywhere.

Great question. I don't know. I'm starting to think it's all going to happen in one big announcement. Why drag it out? That's not Noland's style, I don't think, but there's a method to all of this now. It's totally different than the previous admin.

This makes us feel so elated! We have something to unite for, to fund raise for, to aspire to. I think we are all done with all the split up fan base and cannot wait to get together for a better day and promising future for our University. We support you Dr. Noland!

Rumors are swirling everywhere and people on the inside are making "wink wink" comments. This is about to happen. I asked someone who works in the athletic department tonight why there were no Asun banners and he said with a grin that the Asun "doesn't sponsor football". He said that announcements were coming, but maybe not until summer. Of course, he would not commit to what those announcement would be exactly.

Spoke to Noland again today. Questioned him about upcoming changes. He was very careful in what he said...you could tell that he wanted to say more than he could, but he said more change is coming soon. "Be patient but get ready. This is going to be a very exciting time."

It sounds like the conference thing is not figured out yet and that may be the delay in the announcement itself. I'm not sure if that means that we are unsure of where we want to be or if there is little interest in us. Either way, I had a similar experience with Noland at the VCU game. Its coming... logistics seem to be the hangup.
