Dreamland is maybe the third or fourth best BBQ joint in Birmingham, but it is the one that gets all the press.

What's the best one? I'll be sure to check it out for lunch before I head to the ATL to fly home.

It's just like women, everybody has a different flavor. I support Full Moon because their company supports UAB athletics.

Visit the Gene Bartow Memorial Forum and read the "Guide to Birmingham" thread. It will give a list of area restaurants and a brief synopsis.

I'll check out Jim N Nicks.... Full Moon was listed as not open on Sat/Sun.

I do have a fun story. I'm staying at the Days Inn on US 78 off of I20/I65. I walked to the Chevron, which is less than a block away from the Days Inn, to buy a pack of cigarettes and some tums.: As I was leaving the Chevron some guy in pickup was like "do you know where you're at". I was like naw... Dude was like "you're on the wrong side of town". SMH... wannabees 03-banghead

Definitely hit Jim 'n Nick's. The cheese biscuits are like crack. You bite into one, and next thing you know, you've inhaled the whole basket, wondering what the hell just happened.

Have you guys ever tried Big Daddy's up in Warrior? There is also a small BBQ joint over by the airport thats better than any of the large chains you usually here about. The owner use to sale ribs right outside of Mazers in Avondale and would draw a nice crowd every Saturday.

I wouldn't call either chains. They're both local.

After living in Blount County for 1/2 my life I did not think of Top Hat as having a Hayden address. I always think Blount Springs. Top Hat is really good bbq. The sauce is ok, but the meat is to die for.

1. Someone ban whoever said Golden Rule. I would go back to see who said it, but I would have to read that post again.
2. You guys realize he asked about Birmingham cue, didn't you. Not Bessemer, Hayden, Warrior or any outlying area. He is visiting Birmingham, not taking a tour of Alabama.

haha... hopefully not 03-wink

Birmingham was a cool town tho. Reminded me of a mini Pittsburgh in a way. The only difference is that I noticed an absurd amount of Pay Day Loan centers lol.
