It looks like the League will start in 2014

The MVC has a 24 month notice, but that is only to receive any type of monies and revenue from the conference. The fee is minimal. A team can leave with less than 12 months notice, but would forfeit all revenue from the conference. from 12-24 months, they forfeit 50%.

A-10 is $1 million with one year's notice. IIRC, it's 2.5 million with less than one year's notice. I think the most likely outcome is a 2014 departure. I think it's something that both the Pilson League and the Aresco League will want.

It makes sense for everybody to come to an amicable agreement to stay together until June 30, 2014, and then all sides can chart their new futures.

BIG EAST IN 2013-14
UConn \ Providence
St. John's \ Seton Hall
Rutgers \ Temple
Villanova \ Georgetown
Cincinnati \ Notre Dame
DePaul \ Marquette
Louisville \ Memphis
USF \ UCF
Houston \ SMU

One final year for the hybrid Big East to go out in a blaze of glory. Aresco needs to have ESPN extend the current basketball contract by one season.

I'd switch up the H/H's a bit.

Rutgers/Seton Hall
Villanova/Temple
UofL/Memphis
Houston/SMU
UCF/USF
UConn/Providence
Marquette/DePaul
St. John's/Georgetown
Cincy/Notre Dame

I was listing the schools based on geography and politics, not necessarily based on home-and-homes, although it makes sense to do those as I listed. Rutgers and Seton Hall probably don't care about doing a home-and-home. Villanova almost surely has no desire to do a home-and-home with Temple.

Rutgers and SHU definitely want one last home and home.

That being said I think everyone leaving en masse in 2014 is the most orderly way out.

Says who? That is an under the radar heated rivalry.

As a Nova fan, I can tell you that playing Temple once a year is more than enough. I would like to see us start playing them on a neutral court like the Palestra or possibly at Wells Fargo

Well to be fair it's a sexy game for the TV partners and it makes sense when you line everyone else up. No need to screw the whole thing up just for VU. It's not like it makes zero sense and you're complaining.

But why force Villanova to play Temple an extra game just for one year on a temporary TV deal, when they will immediately go right back to only playing once per year? Short term stupidity. Just do Rutgers vs. Seton Hall twice, Temple vs. UConn twice, and St. John's vs. Providence twice. Problem solved.

UConn and Providence are geographic rivals who would want to play twice one more time. UConn and Temple are sticking together no need to force that series. Villanova playing Temple twice makes sense in every regard. TV likes it, fans want it, geographic sense, and not doing it screws up all the other rivalry games.

Lot of Print that has UCONN and Cin going MWC in FB only and staying with the C7 for all other sports.

I know this topic was brought up as a possibility, now seems like a probability unless ACC comes calling.

That was debunked minutes after it went out on the interwebs

ESPN insider has it and the update from 9:00 am this morning says "Cincinnati and Connecticut could see that as a favorable alternative for their football programs while maintaining a high standard for their basketball programs."
