Becoming a Season Ticket Holder...
I decided about halfway through this season that I should just become a season ticket holder since I go to most, if not every home game. Other than buying the tickets, is there anything I should know or look into before hand? Is there a deadline to buy them? etc.

Thanks.

You can probably call them now and tell them you would like to be a new season ticket holder. Nothing special to know really, you usually will get a pamphlet to fattys and last year we all got a mac champs poster at the end of the season.

I am looking forward to hopefully another poster and magnet. The poster frames nicely and looks great on the wall.

Deadline for renewals is around may 1st.. then they process new season ticket holders once they know what seats will be available

Where did you get the frame at...Michael's? I was trying to get one but haven't yet or did you get it professionally matted.

Does the athletic director still get a cut of stadium revenues?

The spring game is a good time to select seats if you are particular about where you want to sit. They usually have them marked for seats available.

I'm still young enough to sit on the east side so I'm just going to get them there.

Great Post Tim - even if you don't make all of the games, buying season tix and showing up is that the AD's office always says is an awesome way to get involved. There is NO shortage of available seats.

Yep at Michael's. For some of the bigger newspaper front covers I get them professsionally matted, which look real good after. In the process of getting the Northern Star one done. Hopefully it isn't the only BCS bowl one we'll have!

RE: Becoming a Season Ticket Holder...
Eric can likely tell you now what seats are open.

If you want the standard bleacher seats specify if you want to be closer to the 50, a specific endzone, closer to the field, near a specific gate or an aisle seat. Sadly because of our low season ticket numbers you have lots of options.

They try to keep the season ticket holders in sections C, D and E but they will put you wherever you want if you ask.

I would suggest that you pick the ones you like and pay for them as soon as they will let you (likely by 3/2).

There is a chance that some seats will open up from people who move or do not renew. If you are not totally satisfied with your seat location then check back with the ticket office the week after the priority deadline (around May 1st). This way you may be able to pick up something better.

NIU just put a post on facebook saying "11,000" with no other description. Obviously that cannot be season ticket sales, does anyone know what they mean by that number?

Dennis Dodd said the NIU section looked like a "state high school football playoff game" at the Orange Bowl.

The exact quote/tweet from Dodd

"I say this with fondness: NIU student section reminds me of state playoff game."

It was a compliment to our student for the energy they were showing before the game even started.

Watching Victor E jump up and down on the stage in that corner surrounded the students going absolutely crazy an hour and half before game time is something I will never forget. What a scene it was.

RE: Becoming a Season Ticket Holder...
The students WERE awesome....
But - and this is up to the students -- We need to develop some unique student crowd antics - I think it energizes the stadium and adds a lot to the game atmosphere.
Did you hear the FSU fans during kickoffs?
How about a jump around at some point with the "Huskie hand-finger" thing?
A unique cheer during kick offs?

The only thing unique is our Red - Black cheer which is dated and lame....
