You REALLY don't think they sat down and talked about it? The AD is the boss...it takes 5 mins..."josh, UT offered us a football series, so I decided to play the basketball series...good luck in Knoxville"

You realize they have postponed a game that they owe us from 2004 to 2017 right? But we should take them at their word and put a new contract in place so we can get...what? Another game (or games) that they postpone because they feel like it? Just something to think about...

I think you are confusing the issue. It is isn't about 'making a decsion' that is easy. It is about addressing the entire situation. Just explain to everyone how it would have hurt matters for him to have communicated with the coach that he was considering renewing? Should have been expressed to the coach months ago.

Nobody disagrees who is the boss, not really the point. The point is that Bowen made a needless mess out of this by not communicating. These threads wouldn't exist if Bowen had been doing all of the things he should have been doing. Bowen is making the school, coach, and himself look silly. I'm open to be convinced otherwise but thus far I have seen nothing to indicate other than Bowen has once again mishandled a situation.

I don't know much, but I can't say with 100% certainty that if Tom Bowen has pissed this collection of miscreants and trash off, then he is doing something right.

RE: conference stuff

RC Johnson et al sat on their ******* hands while every other school in our conference passed us by.

Now, because schools elect to leave the Big East, suddenly the new athletic director, that has been here SEVEN GOSH DAMN MONTHS "doesn't have a plan to get us into a conference".

On December 16, 2003, The University of Memphis could have gotten ANYTHING they wanted from the city, the boosters, the common fans. They couldn't have hauled all the money back to Memphis if they would have had staff members at the doors of the Mercedes Benz Superdome with trash bags asking for donations.

No, they parlayed one good season into as an organization sitting on their ass and doing NOTHING.

Not asking the little guy for one thin dime

Not immediately launching a season ticket campaign

Not a damn thing was done.

THAT is when conference realignment was lost for us. We took over TEN THOUSAND people to a "meaningless" bowl game.

We had fan support, a solid team, and all we needed was work from the AOB.

Nada

Zilch

Zero.

Anyone that wants to blame Tom Bowen for the current state of affairs as it relates to conference affiliation, can just take that thought and shove it.

Between Robert Carroll and the band of garbage before him, there is plenty of blame to go around regarding the current state of affairs at our university.

Bringing Tom Bowen into this conference affiliation mess and saying "he doesn't have a plan" is pure and absolute trash.

100% rubbish.

Maybe the coach in the first place shouldn't be spitting out who we are playing or not and leave that up to the AD and just tell the fans he will play anyone anywhere.

Oh I forgot we have a coach that wants to play Lipscomb 31 times

Dangit the coach makes the schedule and the Ad at times has input but not making decisions without the coach's friggin knowledge.

That is not happening...

That is the point- this spin that Bowen is unilaterally making basketball decisions without his head coach- absolute nonsense.

Every time Bowen wipes his ass with Tiger basketball logoed toilet paper he does not check with Pastner either.

He is the AD- working, keeping options open, but is NOT making final baseball decisions without talking with Schoenrock, not making football decisions outside Fuente and so on.

Get real folks.

http://www.sjsuspartans.com/ViewArticle....EM_ID=5600

November 30 - BCS#25-San Jose State accepts a bid to the Military Bowl in Washington, D.C.

December 2 - For the first time, San Jose State finishes a regular season in football listed in the BCS standings and is ranked in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls Top-25.

December 11 - Kent Baer named interim head football coach for the Military Bowl after Mike MacIntyre accepted the University of Colorado job on December 10.

December 17 - Ron Caragher named new head football coach.

December 21 - The NCAA applauds San Jose State for forging ahead academically and achieving success in football at the same time.

December 27 - San Jose State wins the Military Bowl.

December 31 - Men's basketball opens WAC play with two road wins for the first time as a conference member.

Yep, the real mistake here was the way that Josh expressed the ending of the series. People can argue that all they want but if Josh had not been so definitive and gave no out incase things changed this would be a non-issue.

I don't mind the "it's my way or the highway" philosophy if you are upfront and forthright about it.

There's a difference between telling Pastner, "this is the way it gonna be", and "this is the way it gonna be, but I'm going to change my mind and let you find out from the media."

Public perception is that Bowen undermind Josh on the decsion to continue the UT series.

Interesting.

Some of the same people who are complaining about the BB schedule are thrilled with keeping UT on it.
