Sugar Bowl shows that Southern Miss had talent ....
We played Louisville great throughout the whole game, we just had alot of piss poor coaching decisions, and some of you are going to point to the rain but we played the two best teams in the East real close too, UCF in OT and ECU by 10, we should have been a competitive football team, thanks Ellis Johnson for being the worse Got Damn Coach in College Football History!

in the 96 seasons USM has fielded a football team (101 seasons but 1917,1918,1943,1944,1945 no teams due to World Wars) only one coach has finished as head football coach at USM without a single win, ELLIS JOHNSON. He has a record that we all hope will never be equalled in USM history. How bad does a coach have to be to take over a 12-2 team, 18 straight winning seasons, and lose every damn game?

There was plenty of talent on the team, the UCF and Louisville games showed me that. You could tell the team really wanted to win those two games. The others, they didn't care about.

...cmon, it was a monsoon...only reason the score was that close....fla coaching staff has totally blown this one....pass first play when you have the number one defense with a potent running game....onside kick only down by 14....as an aside, how about ESPblows not getting the blocked XP in any conversation??

My man if you don't think we would've had a chance to win that game had we had decent coaching you are sorely underestimating Southern Miss Football

It only rained on Louisville's side of the line of scrimmage when we played them, right?

RE: Sugar Bowl shows that Southern Miss had talent ....
We all knew you had talent. At least anyone who played you or watched you in 2011 knew that. I still believed that our early win over you this year was going to prove to be a good win by the end of the season. Then I watched your coach make mind boggling decision after mind boggling decision. It's truly epic how bad of a coach EJ is when you really think about it. The name John Thompson makes me shutter but at least he came in after a 4-8 season and won a game. EJ took it to a whole new level. I mean he couldn't have done any worse if it was a sabotage. Like literally a rock could have coached the team as well as he did. I don't think it can be overstated how bad he was. He might have actually had more of a negative impact on USM football than Hurricane Katrina had on Tulane. Thankfully the rebuilding should be much easier.

I have always been pro players....can see how you would have taken that either way....our lack of coaching is inarguable, but it was the weather that kept us in that game....we play indoors the score is similar and the play would be similar as tonight...I mean for christ sakes, UTEP, Rice, etc... made us look foolish....I just want 0-12 in 2012 to go away and get rid of my bag head for a friar tuck outfit to compliment Monk and Co.!

FIU lost to Louisville when we hosted them earlier this with a true freshman getting his first playing time after our starting QB was injured in the 2nd quarter. We lost by only seven points after blowing a chance to get the ball back for a potential game tying drive after we ran into the kicker... I think each and every game is different. It's a lot about match ups and preparation. It seems like Florida thought they would walk all over Louisville, but ummm... yeah.

You realize it was because the players didn't care outside of a couple of games right?

And by "players" I mostly mean the seniors, who had their glory year in 2011.

Southern has a very good overall football program, regardless of the Sugar Bowl.

what a silly exchange that became. First, you play in the conditions you have to play in and a coaching staff should be professional enough to know how the elements will affect their team. Also it is true that whatever the weather both teams play in it and if you can't play in the weather then you better figure out as a coaching staff what you need to do to be ready in the future, or find another profession.

I knew Louisville had a good team but they just made Florida look bad. I just wonder how much of that beating is on Charlie Strong having his guys ready and playing mistake free football or Florida crapping the bed. And just watch the mass exodus of juniors off the Florida team to the NFL draft after this game.
