Anywhere in the Top 25 and I will be happy. This is my goal every year and we seem to have a lock on #26. You guys do not think we will realistically fall out of the Top 25 do you? I think we are safe.

We're a MAC team. If we lose, we drop out of the top 25. Sucks, but that seems to be how they do it usually. Hoping that doesn't happen.

I bet anywhere from 22 to 25, feels like 24 to me. Big for NIU and recruiting. Preseason rankings? I bet 26 lol

Depends on how much voters want to "punish" us for losing the game they said we're "unworthy" of after qualifying for it.

I agree with your statement, however a loss to a team the status of FSU is not a typical MAC loss.

True, but I'm not sure that matters. We're still a MAC team and live in the top 25 at the whim partly of those who are not really believers.

#22 L-ville leading #4 Florida at Halftime 24-10 will not help our cause.

RE: Where will we be rated?
I think we stay in... about 22 or 23. There aren't a lot of super impressive teams outside of the top 25 banging on the doors to jump in. Not sure how many of them would jump the #15 team, but you never know I guess. I'd say the same amount of teams lose that are 15-19 as win that are 20-25 and things get re-shuffled, but they stay in there.

RE: Where will we be rated?
Unfortunately, based on the media bias, I think NIU's best case is to be at #24, #25. Unfair probably given who they played in a bowl compared to other borderline teams.

We will see what the voters do but it would not surprise me if they left NIU out of the top 25.

On average throughout the year, if a SEC team lost, they dropped no more than 5 spots. Georgia losing 35-7 to South Carolina is the only bigger drop at 7 places.

If an ACC team lost, it dropped at least 7 spots.
If a Big12, Big10, Pac12 team lost, it could be 7 to 11 spots.

Once the BCS polls started, you had stranger things with the computer rankings. FSU finished the season 12th in the BCS, but looking at the polls that count towards the BCS: 12th in the Harris, 12th in the USA/Coaches, 14-24 in the computer polls.
NIU was 15th BCS, 16 Harris, 16 USA/Coaches, 12-NR computer.

All of the SEC teams ranked had the computer polls even with their coaches and harris poll rank.

Look at the Sagarin rankings for example, he has the BCS one which only counts wins/losses and the other which also counts margin of victory and the quality of the win.
He has NIU ranked 29th for BCS purposes btw before the Orange Bowl.

I think NIU should still be ranked around 20-22, but the computers will drop them from the BCS ranks. Look at the Harris, Coaches and AP polls instead.
