I wonder how NIU would be doing if they had Heinicke or Cato under center...

Well they are going against the best team they have faced all year and a pretty strong defense.

yeah, but when you've run the same simple play at least ten times so far and back to back and it hasn't worked, there's something more than physical mismatches at work.

RE: NIU's offense
Someone needs to tell NIU's OC that the QB run is not working. They have no offensive creativity whatsoever...I swear this reminds me of USM's offense this year...QB run up the middle for nothing...and horrible play selection. [/align]

RE: NIU's offense
I think NIU must use misdirection and screens, they aren't going to beat them running at them and they are too fast to go around, so they got to get them going one way and go back the other. Also the recievers are dropping too many. I know some were hard catches but they were catches that could have been made. They need to find a way to get some solid drives to rest their defense.

RE: NIU's offense
well they just went like 90 plus yards and finally hit a long bomb down the sideline. that was an impressive TD drive.

Lynch had been missing some open throws earlier in the game.

Yup. They don't look so strong when they aren't playing the best high schools in the Chicago area.

RE: NIU's offense
IMO, NIU had no answer for the speed and athleticism of FSU's defense.

This plus a bad game plan to go against that speed and athleticism.

I didn't get to watch much of it, but what I saw was a lot of execution problems in the passing game...and the running game was a non-starter, FSU's D-Line was absolutely crushing NiU's O-Line.

Edit: Wow...fixing some odd iPad typing oddities.

RE: NIU's offense
It was a mismatch from the get-go. FSU was bigger, faster and stronger, and NIU tried to use brute strength against them. No surprise it did not work. NIU should have been using finesse and misdirection all night long if they wanted to have a chance to win.
