After St. Johns Game
A buddy and I are going to the game on Saturday. We need a sports bar or good place to watch the end of the Bengals game after the Bearcats game near campus.

Who knows the spot to go?

Catskeller is the closest Bar to 5th/3rd. It's located on the lower level of TUC.
Otherwise head for BDubs or Martinos.

BW3 on Calhoun is within close walking distance and has a ton of TVs, so it would be a good place to watch the game. Also some TVs and good beer selection at the Catskellar if you want to stay on campus.

It's a shame that the Holy Grail is no longer there. That was a great pre and post game spot.

Off topic somewhat, but is it true that Christy's is shutting down?

I;m pretty sure CHristy's has already closed it's doors.

Another postgame watering hole option is Adriaticos. New location on McMillan has lots of tvs and great pizza although it can be crowded before or after UC events.

I'm a big fan of Mac's. Also, went to the new Adriatico's before the Wright State game & was very impressed.

Is Uncle Woody's still there? That was a pregame hang out for me back in the day...

Gone.

New building is taking shape in its place.

I think you're confusing Inn the Wood with Uncle Woody's. Uncle Woody's is still there. Inn the Wood has been gone for years and is being replaced with new development.

My personal favorite bar in the area is Mac's. They have really good pizza and other bar food. I think their Philly Cheese Steak is the best in the city (get it with the Bier Cheese).

If you are looking pizza and some high quality beer, Adriaticos is also a great place to watch the game.

Man, all this talk of all the old watering holes has me in a nostalgic moment. Very sad to hear the Biergarten is gone. Murphy's was always my favorite while attending UC. I've gone to Mac's a few times and agree that it is a good place to go.

I miss In the Woods Tavern 03-weeping

Uncle Woody's, Christy's, Martinos, Holy Grail, Fries, Murphy's...there were some great places to drink near campus...always enjoyed heading to N. Kentucky and Hide Park / Mount Adams as well. So much has changed in the last 10 years since I was living on Lyons St.

RE: After St. Johns Game
I refuse to go to Woody's since the new ownership took over after Buzzy sold it. It's turned into a stereotypical "frat"/underage bar from what I've seen, and they did away with pit, which was half of that place's charm.

I could be mistaken, but it doesn't have the same vibe as it did in years past. Murphy's/Mac's/Christy's were all great places while I was in school too. Too bad about Christy's.

I always thought Woody's was a "frat" hangout. Never cared for it. And I was in a fraternity.

Only place I go to up there is Mac's or Adriaticos. If Uncle Woodys is the typical younger college crowd,
not surprised as it is a college campus after all.

If you are just looking to drink Fries and Murphys are great, but I was trying to include bar food. I also love Mecklenburg Gardens. Last year for the Big East tournament they had all you can eat wings for Free. I watched all of UC's games there, it was a great time...the Wings were delicious and they would make them as your ordered them giving you like 8 of each set you ordered at a time. It was a great deal.
