I've just never understood exactly how being a pain/prick on a message board helps your program improve themselves in realignment or anything else.

Memphis fans didn't have to say anything as their top notch hoops program did all the talking and speaks for itself. It's the UCF types that absolutely have to talk as they have nothing else but their fluff to separate themselves from the rest. They puff their chest out on some solid areas of their athletics and their TV market.... Looks like it really worked out for them.

I would be careful about laughing at this point...There are a lot of things to get worked out and there could be some good teams stuck without a decent home once all this works itself out. Rather than laughing I would be holding my breath right now.

This is where you don't understand...."How would Marshall feel?"...The truth is, it doesn't matter anymore. All of us are categorized that same in the "Group of Five" label. We have the same level of access as you do.

The idea of the Big East going "National" was doomed to fail at the start. So here we are. Once the "Group of Five" agreement was put in place, the move to more regional friendly conferences should have been the direction.

Have to agree with this... regionalize and cut the teams with zero football support that bring no $ to the table.

You state you want to cut the teams with zero football fan support
and you include Tulane and leave out UTEP. ODU has yet to play a down of football at the FBS level and you leave them in? Also USM has a market size ranking of 167 to that of 91 for El Paso. Lots of stuff there that doesn't make sense.

Agreed.. it's been tit for tat. I can laugh with you on the second part - because can't say I will miss Boise trying to bring in more far west teams.. hopefully SDSU will tuck their tail between their legs and follow right along. Boise by itself would have been nice, but that was never going to happen.

Edit: Stanman, you guys are too far west - hope you guys get a MWC call along with Tulsa. Also, Tulane is actually building an on campus stadium - should help with attendance nicely, besides - they're already part of the party.

Yeah and you've also acted like a complete ******* over the schools added to CUSA and the schools that left. People forget this goes both ways. As soon as schools defected their fans got trolled here (as if we have ANYTHING to do with our Presidential decisions) and vice versa. Lots of hypocrisy to go around on all sides.

I like everyone else had a hissy fit when it all went down but have come to terms and apologized to all the new teams. It was kindof a blow to everyone.

I have to defend some of the ECU (stilljonesing excluded) that they have been attacked by some and insulted unfairly at times, so I can't be upset with those who simply are not going to stand by and let their school get bashed wrongly. Yes some are due to stupid ECU supporters (or so they claim) that don't show the real character of a great school. I have seen some USM supporters who have embarrassed me with some of their post, but I tended to defend my alma mater while wishing the one who made it needed to defend my school, would stop acting childishly. I guess that is the hazard of a board like this, but like Bear Bryant used to tell his teams, "always show your class" and I advise all to follow that. After all I would rather see my team look like class than to see them look like horse's behinds.

You know Ive been saying all along that there is going to be 6 schools standing out in the cold when this all comes to a hault for the "Blown Up Big East".

When that happens, no one is going to spend 10-12 million dollars to join that. They just aren't. I like ECU but they are the only one in that group that would get me really excited to go watch a game. And there is always going to be a bond with ECU that Marshall has with them that the school and fans will never have with any other school.

But one school isn't going to tip our cap and make us move for the same access in basketball and football and most likely the same money.

As far as not being in a conference without USM or Tulsa, I really like to play both schools but they neither are the end all in college atheletics. When I was younger, I like most ECU fans dreamed that one day Marshall may play in the BE. That BE had Miami, VA Tech and BC in it. Not UCF and Temple.

I turned 41 just 2 weeks ago. I know Marshall will never be in an ACC, B10, SEC or B12 conference. And about 3 or 4 years ago I fianally realized that I don't care who Marshall is playing. I don't go to watch team x. I go to watch Cato, Shuler, Allen, Dillion, Lovett or Kane, Spikes, Goff and Tinnon.

I have a lot of respect for Marshall and it is truly one of the most admirable programs in football. I think being in a conference with Marshall is an honor and one I hope will continue. Will USM move? I honestly don't know because I don't know what enticements can be made to lure us. If Marshall and La. Tech arenn't part of it I am not sure I would want to move.

I enjoy playing USM and have all the respect for USM. When Bob Pruett was our coach he always said he was building our prgram to emulate what they do in Hattisburg Ms. I respect the past USM athletes in Ray Guy, Michael Boley, Louis Lipps (Im a Steelers Fan), and Brett Farve.

I like being in a conference with USM and would love for that to continue. The battles we have had in a short time span have usually been good and close. Only 2 blowouts. The USM blow out of Marshall 2 years ago and the Marshall blowout of USM this year. I don't expect to many of those. I also think we've had some decent battles in basketball and even baseball.

All this comparing of ***** sizes would make Richard Simmons very happy.

I think you are missing the point - yes, CUSA has the same access now (potentially) but this is an opportunity to form an all southeastern conference with some of the teams that don't bring anything in regard to fans/money. If those 6 schools call a few CUSA schools - they will come. The perception is that there will be 3 tiers... The big 5, The MWC/nBECUSA, and the rest. Which tier do you want your school on?

Despite the mud slinging I do have the highest level of respect for Marshall and USM. Strong historical programs with solid attendance who we have lots of history with. I want ECU in a league with those 2. The rest of CUSA ranges from don't care to disgust for me.

Terry Holland is my hero! If he is happy, I'm happy! Some ECU fans don't want us in their confrence. That's understandable. A norrow and territorial view but understandable. I will pull for ECU anytime thay play anyone except Charlotte, because at the end of the day we are like two briars in a cows tail, and where one is the other will be.
