Early look at Jan 2nd basketball games
Will Wyoming be SMU's best opponent they've played? The Cowboys are quietly having a really good year.

These are all pretty winnable games and we really need to win all these games. UCF and SMU host a couple top 100 teams. We need those wins and for UTEP to beat theirs on the road. Everyone else take care of business.

Granted not as good as most had hope for, but not as bad as it seems IMO. I realize we only have 2 in top 100 and have 8 total in top 130. SMU isn't too far back at 160 and could possibly break top 130 with a win against Wyoming Wednesday. The big downers are Houston, Marshall, and Rice but most conferences with 12 or more are going to have their few of them. Just have to take care of business in the remaining OOC games.

Houston's RPI will improve even if they lose in conference. They've just played the worst schedule so far in the country. I don't mind that so much because they've gone 9-2 and won't hurt the RPIs of the rest of the conference when they play. They've ruined their own chances at post season play with the abysmal schedule, but that was their decision. Having seen them play a couple of times, I think Houston will do well in conference. They're long and athletic which makes them a matchup problem for most of the conference. They just don't play defense very well.
I have been pleasantly surprised with USM, although I still think it's a bit of an enigma how we've been as successful as we have given our obvious deficiencies. I've also been pleasantly surprised by UCF who I thought would struggle with very limited experience at the guard positions. It will be interesting to see if they can continue their success into conference play.
Marshall has to have one of the worst RPI building schedules in the country. Everyone they've played is either very good or very bad. Of course it didn't help when Hofstra booted half their team so a pretty decent team when Marshall lost to them became a garbage team for the remainder of the year. Still going 0-7 against the spread in handicapped games tells me Marshall is not living up to its talent level. I still think they're a talented team, but watching our football team this year showed me a lot about how losing can be just as infectious as winning.

ECU loses to 303 Campbell. I wonder how their fans will explain that one?

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEFFF, at this rate, UAB may lose. Horrible night for the conference, hopefully UCF, SMU, and UTEP can make the pain a little worse.

RE: Early look at Jan 2nd basketball games
If any of you want a serious recap, we missed 23 of our first 24 3-pointers to fall behind by 16 points. We were down 13 with 3 minutes to go, and tied it up. But on Campbell's 2nd possession of the overtime period, Kemp fouled out (Miguel Paul had already fouled out), leaving us without our best two players. Campbell took advantage, and made some steals to seal the game.
Sorry for effing up everyone's RPI.

He'll spin this into a positive thing for ECU, somehow. Just watch.
