Slowly coming around to this line of thinking...not sure when, or even if, an ACC invite is coming.

It's probably not coming for 2+ years, and folks around here just can't seem to accept that.

C7 and or rebuild what we have. I go for rebuild with UMass and Marshall so we can keep it regional. Those schools are also nice replacement when Cincy and UConn get the call down the line.

Those schools have decent basketball programs.

If Chris Petersen splits for Oregon, which seems to be the big rumor once Chip Kelly heads to the NFL, Boise St. might not be much of a draw anymore.

I certainly don't blame Boise State from changing it's mind. I would think most of the others that were jumping ship to our conference would possibly do the same thing.

We need to pump up the out of conference schedule if we can. We can whether the storm as long as we are on television. We cannot get into a conference with so many games against Mass, Tulane, Memphis, Conn, etc.. If There is no attractive conference game to televise, we will fade into oblivion.

Dump the FCS game every season even if that equals moving from 7 home games to 6 homes games. Hopefully Louisville will still play us in football. We already have BYU on the schedule, call Boise State and see if they still want to dance with Cincinnati. Maybe a two for one with a major program. If not one for one with mid level teams. I would look west because their isn't a lot great non-conference teams to play out there for certain programs.

eff that. uc can not afford from a fan interest or recruiting standpoint to be associated with those schools again (marshall, usm, tulane etc). do that and everything we have built this past decade will be for naught. WIthin 3 years the Keg of Nails game will resemble UC/Miami the past 7 years.

indy for football and c7 is the only option at this point.

Yep..or you crater basketball forever too. You need to schedule "big" to make it work.....if you can sell 3-4 home games to a TV provider for $500K/game.....that money + the bball money from the Big East is probably worth more than CUSA reject conference. Make a bowl....and you keep all bowl money too.

Maybe we can start our own network, too.

With crippled Big East, maybe MWC will think big and go after Cincinnati. Not sure if that even works logistically, just throwing it out

I'd assume that would be for football-only, otherwise Cronin would go crazy. 03-nerner

In latest Sagarin basketball ratings, MWC > BE.

Looking like a lackluster year for the BE, after the top 4.

Not sure how that works. BE has no one worse than 8-4 while MWC has a 9-5 and 6-7 team.

Sagarin (and Kenpom) use proprietary algorhythms that take strength of schedule and margin of victory into account. Do I literally believe that the MWC is really better than the BE? No...my point is that is MWC stands on its own as a respectable conference. Case in point: the NM team that beat us compares favorably to many BE squads, and may not even be the best team in that conference.

I'm telling you, other than an invite to the big boy leagues this is our best overall option.

We take hoops/olympic sports and join the C7 and fb only in the MW.
If UCONN, Temple, and Memphis do the same bball would look like this:

UCONN
UC
Gtown
Nova
Marquette
Temple
Memphis
SJU
Prov
SH
Depaul
Butler/Creighton/SLU etc

That's a dang good bball league, keeps Mick recruiting east, keeps us in MSG and probably keeps us with "Big East" since the C7 will get the name. Cronin is happy. We're happy. No tulane, no ecu, no smu, etc.

football:
boise
UC
UCONN
Temple
Memphis
UNLV
New Mexico
Air Force
Colo St
Fresno st
Hawaii
Nevada
SDSU
Wyoming

Not world beaters, but not a bad conference at all for football all things considered.

That sounds similar to a genius conference that was proposed on the BE board.
