Landon: New Year's resolution for Marshall: Stop losing
Marshall's football program has posted losing records in six of the last eight seasons. The once-proud Herd has stumbled its way to a very unsuccessful cumulative record of 40-57. And MU capped this eight-year slide toward mediocrity with arguably the most disappointing season of all in 2012.

So, I ask you, Marshall fans, is it really time to quaff the Kool-Aid for a ninth consecutive year?

I think not.

Support the Herd like zealots. Purchase football season tickets. Show up at "The Joan" in your kelly green and make her proud. Re-invent the Edwards Stadium home field mystique and make it the toughest venue in Conference USA for visiting opponents.

But just say no to the Kool-Aid.

Enough is enough.

Easier in what way? We lose UCF and since we haven't won in CUSA ill give you that but will one less potential loss equate a winning season? Possibly.

We play Miami of Ohio, AT Ohio and AT Virginia Tech. Plus in sure a suckass 1-AA team at home. No WVU so who knows?

I went to school with Landon when he wrote for the Parthenon. I do know what I did then...ignore him. For someone committed to the Herd, he does more to piss off the Marshall faithful than anyone I know. Some things never change.

Ohio should be easy. They lose a lot. Anything less than a 3-1 start and it'll be another long year.

I wouldn't overlook Ohio. Tettleton is back for one more and he's had his way with us. I would be thrilled with 3-1. Miami always plays us tough, but I do expect a win in our opener at the Joan, and I can't imagine Gardner-Webb gives us much challenge. Then again, if we don't shore up our defense....any game is a challenge.

Wait, you're saying winning is better than losing?? Looks like we finally found a proper replacement for John Madden.

If we lose either of those games, i won't watch another one. No excuse for losing to them. Either of them.

Cocky,

Are you aware of Doc Holliday's record against the MAC? MAC teams have been kicking Marshall's ass with regularity since he's been head coach.

All the more reason to not watch. If Marshall can't beat MAC teams, they don't deserve fans. I've sat through half ass seasons with half ass coaches long enough. No more.
