MyBB FEED THE BIGS!!
Going into C-USA play we really need to establish an inside game. Not every now and then...like, everytime down the court. Get Tarik and Shaq the ball early in the shot clock (in a position where they can take one or two dribbles and score) and do it often. I remember the CUSA championship game last year vs. Marshall, Tarik was a grown *** man. We fed him the ball a ton and he went to work. Teams in our conference can't handle him, and I'm willing to bet the same will hold true in regards to Shaq. Also, that might make things easier for our guards if defenses have to collapse on the bigs. If I'm Josh, I'm making this a major point of emphasis...and if someone doesn't want to do it that way, sit their *** on the bench and move on.

Hard to feed the bigs if teams don't respect your shooting ability...

RE: FEED THE BIGS!!
Play Shaq and Tarik together. Have Shaq set up at the free-throw line to feed Tarik if necessary. Shaq is a great hi-low passer, it needs to be taken advantage of by someone.

I don't disagree with this but if the guards are going to get the ball to Tarik, Shaq, or DJ they don't need the pass to be down below their knees. Tarik and Shaq don't need to dribble. Keep the ball high and if the ball is received in an optimal location they just need to quickly go up with a shot in the hopes of drawing the foul. Dribbling the ball several times gives the defense time to get set for a defensive move. I have watched both Shaq and Tarik make a dribble or two when no one was near and they should have just gone up with a power move. The earlier we get the other team in foul trouble the quicker they will have to back off. This in turn tends to open up the lanes for JJ, CC, AT and GJ to drive for the easy lay up. Also at this point in the season Tarik and Shaq don't need to foul anyone 35 feet from the goal.

Excellent points from top to bottom.

Another thing they really need to work on is screening lanes to the basket for the dribble drive. Joey Dorsey was incredible at opening lanes for our guards. We never see Tarik or Shaq doing it. Of course Joey was setting up his team and position for rebound, Tarik and Shaq set up for offense.

Geron and Joe are shooting 49% and 50%, respectively, from the floor. There is no good reason for them not to be able to feed the post. The two problems I see are: (1) They haven't been made to learn how and then made to do it, and (2) we usually have a guy shooting in the 30's playing point.

Until our guards stop allowing so many layups, though, it's kind of a moot point. The bigs we're talking about are going to keep picking up cheap fouls and not be able to be aggressive with the ball.

RE: FEED THE BIGS!!
Need to feed the bigs and NOT pull them off the low block. Most of the time when the point guards feed Black he has to give up position to get the ball. He has to be very close to the basket to be effective. Shaq is more mobile and has a little more range, but he still needs to get the ball close for a shot.

I know its a point of emphasis in practices...for some reason it doesn't happen much in the games.

The team first must value each possession and eliminate unforced turnovers.

This. ORU seemed to be able to penetrate at will last night. They had a lot of close looks at the rim.
