Conference Tourney
Interested to hear what other fans think about where we should play our conference tourney? I've included my answers.

Couple of questions to answer:

1) If we can keep MSG do we?

My answer is a resounding YES

2) If we can get MSG every few years (every 3 for instance). Do we say yes or try to find a fixed spot?

I'd prefer a fixed spot but MSG is so amazing if we can keep any kind of relationship there I say we go for it.

3) Assuming we go with a fixed spot but no MSG what are the top places?

1a. Washington DC
1b. Chicago
2. Brooklyn (Barclays Center)
3. Newark (Prudential Center - SHU and Devils home floor)

4) Assuming we end up on a rotation or changing location what locations are we interested in?

Any combination of the above locations.

We gotta get #1. Until it's decided we can't have MGS every year then I don't want to think about an alternative...just like the conference name...but don't let me stop anybody else 04-cheers

I think the C7 should have MSG while the football schools should move their tournament to Orlando, Tampa, or Memphis.

I doubt any other fixed spot would fly (for a variety of reasons).

They'd probably alternate East/West; using NBA/Hockey arenas in Chicago, Philly, Indy, DC, Milwaukee, Prov, Cincy, etc.

Remember a conference tourney has to be financially viable. You eithe need a lot of alums/fans in the city and its an easy and desirable travel destination. I'm not sure Cincy, Milwaukee, Providence, and other smaller locations would sell out.

Has to be MSG!

1980, the first tourney, sold out in Providence. I went to each game as an 11 yr old! Amazing time.
1981 was at the Carrier Dome.
1982 was in Hartford.
Big crowds each year.
Moved to MSG in 1983...!
Gotta stay there!

C7 will no doubt go after and most likely get MSG in the coming years.

City of Memphis and the FedEx Forum will most likely offer up the richest deal possible for the New Big East...and it would make the most sense since Memphis will easily have the largest hoop fan base in the New Big East.

For those that have never been to Memphis and/or the FedEx Forum, the Arena is located right off of Beale Street...as it really is the perfect location for any tourn...as most of the tourist restaurants/bars are just steps away from the FedEx Forum's doors...as fans fill them up before and after every game.

Orlando, Tampa, Dallas, etc...none of them could offer the $$$ or the tourn package pre-sales like Memphis can (heck, they did it for CUSA most years).
