Unfortunately, we've laid eggs the last couple of years (and how many times have we stunk up Maui?) We're probably going to pay for it again this year. and it's disappointing because this was supposed to be an experienced squad.
It was because Memphis had to schedule high profile or projected Top 25 teams early in the season since CUSA wasn't going to help the Tigers' seeding in the NCAA Tournament. You beat the high ranked teams, your chances are better in getting a high seed.
We got a two seed Tyrekes year stinking it up early...But that was with a 20+ game winning streak and coming off a run to the finals
If "stinking it up" refers to the games before Calipari put 'Reke at the point, I'm pretty sure we were 7-3 just like we are now, except with two losses to ranked teams (one of those in OT.) After that, we didn't lose another game the whole year (unless you count the one the coach threw.) If we do that again, I think most people will forgive stinking it up early just like we did then.
Oh I agree wholeheartedly. If we repeat that season/run then this team has exceeded my preseason expectations.

That run we had with Tyreke included nice road wins against Tennessee (25 RPI), Gonzaga (26), and UAB (46). CUSA was a much more competitive league that year.

RE: Best Regular Season Win
Who cares what we are seeded as long as we get in. The key is if this team improves we will have an NCAA tournament win this year. If they don't improve, no matter what seed we get, we will lose in the first round.
If we win out from here the best we can get is a 4-5 seed, leaning more to the five. Fact is, we aren't going to win out. If we get in the NCAA tournament, I think it will be between the 9-12 seed.

To me, anyone who gives one IOTA about Memphis basketball should care what seed we are getting.
You may have forgotten but last season was a perfect example of how seeding can end your season.

Well I guess you are wrong and you shouldn't assume. Two, this team is one of a few teams that have three McDonald All American's on their team. If they are coached and developed properly it won't matter who they play. With the amount of money being thrown into the program over the years and now, we don't expect to lose in the first round every year no matter the seed.

Seeding matters but I agree with your point. There are only a handful of teams who can match us talent-wise. If this team was being properly developed we'd be in the top 10.
