At Indiana
Spent one season at Indiana as the defensive ends coach and worked with current FAU assistant coach Jeff Sims.
At Nebraska
Served three seasons at the University of Nebraska (2008-10) where he worked with FAU head Coach Carl Pelini as well as assisting with the strength and conditioning program. While at Nebraska, the Cornhuskers enjoyed three-straight bowl appearances, including victories in the 2008 Gator Bowl and the 2009 Holiday Bowl. In 2010, NU's defense ranked among the nation's top-10 in pass efficiency (No. 3), passing (No. 5), scoring (No. 9) and total defense (No. 11). Individually, defensive end Pierre Allen earned first team All-Big 12 honors. The Cornhuskers won the Big 12 North Division, finished 10-4 overall and played in the Holiday Bowl. In 2009, the Cornhuskers led the nation in scoring, pass efficiency and red zone defense, while also ranking in the top 10 nationally in sacks, rushing and total defense. They surrendered just 10.4 points per game, posted two shutouts and allowed only two opponents to reach 20 points. Nebraska led the nation by holding eight opponents to 10 or fewer points, including seven in single digits. Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was the second overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft after being named a Heisman Trophy finalist and the winner of the Associated Press National Player of the Year, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award, Outland Trophy and the Chuck Bednarik Award.
At Minnesota State-Mankato
Dierson coached the defensive line at Minnesota State University-Mankato in 2007.
At Wisconsin-Stout
He was the defensive coordinator, defensive line coach and defensive backs coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stout from 2004-06. Diersen also served as the program's recruiting coordinator and assistant strength and conditioning coach. He got his coaching start at Wisconsin-Stout as an offensive and defensive graduate assistant from 1998-00. The program advanced to the NCAA Division III postseason in his final year.
At University of Dubuque
From 2001-03, Diersen oversaw the defensive line, outside linebackers and was the special teams coordinator at the University of Dubuque.
Playing Career
Enjoyed a successful playing career (1994-98) at Huron (S.D.) University. He was a three-year all-conference defensive end and a four-year Dean's List student.
