I made both a mental and physical note on my calendar and on Christmas day at 2:24pm I gave him five minutes of silent thought.

I've often wondered how long he stayed on the site that day but I don't think you can tell {?} Maybe a mod could, I don't know. Just to know he was on here that day at that time was thought provoking to me. 04-cheers

Noted that for next year. Thanks

RE: One year anniversary of Gruehls passing
Haven't been visiting the boards nearly as often over the past year+. I did not realize Greg had passed. That really stings to hear, and I'm sure much more so for those of you who knew him personally.

I've always said Greg was the BEST mod on any board, anywhere, at any time. He and I would chat from time to time offline. He invited me to have a beer with him at BW3's one time and I said I would join him. Then I got a call from a client late that afternoon and had to remain at the office, so we agreed we'd find another time to get together in the future.

He was one of a kind. He always welcomed me here despite my obvious competing rooting interests. He was clever, funny, infinitely fair and insightful. I promise to have a beer tonight in his memory.

RIP Greg!

We'll miss him on Miami Hawk Talk too. Stoked the flames as a rival should, but never crossed the line. Rest in peace. Sincerely.

He gave me a +3 to rep points once out of the blue and the reason listed was, "Just giving you a little cat scratch". Gruehls was THE BEST.

I never met Greg, but I remember shortly after I joined this board being extremely interested in what ever he had to say. He could dish it out with the best of them. I always enjoyed reading his posts. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to remember that he was also a Duke grad too? I'm sure he was loving the Belk bowl from the best seat in the house!

Greg got his undergrad degree from Northwestern where he played football and he got his JD from Vanderbilt.

No, he was not a Duke grad. He graduated from Northwestern and Vanderbilt law.

RE: One year anniversary of Gruehls passing
Just saw this thread. I can't believe it's been a year.

I still have private messages from him wondering how I was doing. I will never, ever delete them.

He was a good man. As good as they come.
